I didn't give the DSSD a second thought with the black dial, but when I saw the JC I was all over it.

I have both, bought the black one first, then the blue. The blue is lovely, but once I was over the honeymoon period, I hardly ever wear it anymore and I’ve found I much prefer the black.

Both are great. Keep the blue for resale. It will blow the black dial out of the water long term.

You will never tire of the beauty of the Deep Blue plus its one of the few or only times Rolex has issued an actual commemorative watch. If John Mayer would only say that!

Personally I've never been a fan of black and (Kobalt) blue together (which means I don't like the Batman either), so I much prefer the black DSSD.

Bought the black myself. For a long time I thought I wanted the blue but here we are: super happy.

I think there are many other options for a black dial/bezel watch with the Submariner DNA. I would get the James Cameron DSSD. The gradient dial is unique.

I stopped to visit my AD yesterday and he let me try on his JC (his birthday present) a week ago. I was surprised it didn't swallow up my 7" wrist. It sure is a beautiful piece.

James Cameron. If you want a black dial, larger Rolex, get an SD43 which is an infinitely better proportioned watch than the deepsea.

Have had the black original DSSD for years. Have seen the JC version and while I appreciate the homage to the Dive the color scheme did zero for me. Probably for the better lol. Plus there's something about having what many call one of the last completely purpose-built professional tool watches made in the current Rolex lineup.

with the DSSD might as well get the b blue... there is a lot of black dial alternatives in the Rolex stable and a black dial DSSD for me would be ranked below a SD43 and a sub

Also a deep blue fan here. I didn't expect to be. I wore my friend's and was converted. I always thought the dial looked kinda cool, but wasn't sure if I'd be a fan of it on the wrist. Did a complete 180 when I tried it on.
