Watchmaking by George Daniels

Has anyone read the book Watchmaking by George Daniels? I am an engineer by trade. Mainly focus on computational mechanics. I am very intrigued by watchmaking from an engineering perspective. Would be interested in doing something in the industry as a hobbie. Interested to hear peoples thoughts.

He was an incredible person, somewhat now carried on by Roger Smith, I haven’t read his book but many articles about him …
I am currently reading ‘Hands of Time’ , an absolutely beautifully written book that is very encapsulating ..

i have Mr. Daniels' book and others. What genre of engineering do you do now? Are you seeking to set up your own watchmaking?

I’m a computational engineer, and we mainly deal with the simulation of physical phenomena. Somehow, I am a cross between Civil and Mechanical Engineers. I don’t think I am in the phase of my life to take a risk, like setting up my own watchmaking. But I would definitely be interested in designing something on the side in Solidworks or other CAD softwares.
