Would you swap a meteorite Daytona on OF for a platinum Daytona?

Just Curios :)

Not upto date with prices etc but I don’t like the oysterflex band it’s uncomfortable.

What would you trade it for in my position? I bought it from my AD and potentially using it as leverage for a new watch from them - I have explained I find it uncomfortable and would rather trade it back to them for a different watch than sell it elsewhere.

One option is as a platinum Daytona … I mean .. I do have one

But I like the new caseback… and mine is the previous diamond dial version (the best one ) so I wouldn’t mind having the standard dial as the new diamond dial is pretty rubbish In comparison.

Just throwing some ideas around :)

i don't see the point in having 2 platinum daytonas so i wouldn't trade for that. even with the caseback and slightly different dial, the excitement will wear off really fast. how about a platinum DD?

Love them and great suggestion, although I have two dd40s and I struggle to get a good fit on them consistently, I imagine the platinum weight would only add to this.

And before anyone asks, I’ve tried every single size band, every clasp position and it still uncomfortable.

Agree with you regarding Oysterflex.

There must be some people for whom this bracelet naturally fits their (round) wrist.

Looks nice and seems durable, but it’s not a compliant bracelet. If your wrist isn’t round then you either wear it tight to bend it around the sides, or you wear it loose and have it project the watch head off the wrist. That isn’t because of the fins either, the fins are there because it’s not a compliant bracelet.

If you don’t care for the OF go for it. Both amazing watches.

Possibly swap the bracelet out first if you still like the watch overall. Especially if you like the platinum Daytona you have.

I do want to try a leather band. I think it would really suit this watch.

I think that's your best option, to be honest. I'm considering doing the same with my 116519. ::

That watch is too valuable to throw into the trade pile, plus you'll never get even close to what it's worth.

The meteorites will occupy a small and precious niche in the whole line of the OF series and, IMO, your collection too.

I personally wouldn't find much value in having two platinum daytonas and would just sell the oysterflex daytona

What about a platinum Day Date or the 1908 if you like the display back. My AD said the 1908 is going to be unobtainable.

Hi I have a Yellow 116518 Meteorite ,it’s lovely but yellow isn’t me . I have considered lots of trades and come back to the Platinum Daytona as I love the modifications. Or a White Gold Meteorite DD40 .

Love to know how you get on.

I don’t know how often you wear the OF but I went through a similar phase when I first got my 116519 (sadly not a meteorite dial though) and I almost moved it during the first few months of ownership due to not loving the fit or feel of the OF. I kept wearing it and I don’t know what happened but something clicked and it’s totally comfortable now. My full bracelet Daytona is still more comfortable but I have come to love the OF and believe any collection should have at least one OF.

I know you’ve had the OF for a while now but I also know your collection runs deep so not sure how often you wear it. There does seem to be an awkward stage with many people and their first OF.

I’d suggest keep wearing the OF. It’s not like the market is going to change much on a meteorite Daytona. They’re not making any more of them.

And as other have said, I would not want two Platona’s despite the 116 to 126 differences. Too redundant.

Patience is the key. Listen to this goy! It’s crazy to give up that watch. Go to your AD to make sure it’s fitted correctly for your wrist. Then make yourself wear it daily for a full month. You may very well get used to it.

Platinum is not only nicer, but much easier to read :-)

Meteorite > Platona.

Go leather strap.

I have tried my steel 116500 on OysterFlex and I find the bracelet not very comfy as well. A few people on IG have removed / cut the fins inside and apparently it makes the bracelet much more comfortable. I will explore that path. Worst case you can always order a new OysterFlex bracelet from AD.

Yes. In a heartbeat but I also wouldn't want 2 platinum Daytonas. I'd look at other options.

I would trade the OF with a strong seller for a full bracelet version. That gives you best of both worlds with the platinum Daytona you already have.

Now you’re talking my language what a fantastic idea !

I’m not sure how I would go about this though I can’t imagine they’re easy to find.

I love the meteorite dial and I also have the day date and the GMT.

Takuya aka Thanh Do has one and he is as solid as they get. I am sure he would work with you.

HL65 showing why he is a gentleman and a scholar with this advice that is equally correct as it is obvious but missed by the rest of us.

The only way it could make sense to trade a meteorite Daytona is if you are getting another meteorite Daytona in return.
