5970P v 5270P (yet to be announced...)

So as some of you know through private pm or personally knowing me I sold my 5970G and 'upgraded' to a 5970P. Being that I've given up on finding a J 5970 and have no interested in a 5970R what are your thoughts of trying to acquire a 5270P in addition to the 5970P once it's announced?

I'm hoping the new 5270P will have the exact same dial as the 5271P we saw at basel this year.

My plan was originally to save for a 5004P black baton over a few years but I'm sort of on this kick of wanting to have some of the new technically superior in house movements patek is making. Though I love that new black 5204P I can't get over the upside moonphase....I know I know it's a small thing but it really does bother me (same reason I just can't get one of those gorgeous 5396G tiffany's with the breguet numerals)...I love astronomy and I'm sorry but the moon and stars are in the sky....not on the ground.

Anywho, yeah my goal was to save save save for a 5004P....but that is an older movement (basically the 5970 or 3970 modified lemania with a split seconds complication..........) And I feel the 5270P will really be something jut as special..

Thoughts? I think cost wise the 5004P and 5270P will be actually pretty close..I could be wrong though depending on how the secondary market is affected by the 175th..

The only other pieces that I would want after this would be a 5074P and a 6104G which are over 5 years away with the rate I'm collecting.

In the stable is a 5164 (5167R, 5712A).

...the one thing that might f**k all this up is if a 5131P launches as well with CONUS on the dial.....

I see what you mean about upside down moon phase, never thought of it like that before! Anyway I quite like it as it's different, and besides id forgive the 5204 anything!! If you can get a 5204 I definitely would. Otherwise I'm sure the 5270p will be gorgeous and go very nicely with your 5970.

Thanks, yeah. The 5204P is a tour de force no doubt. And black is slick. I can't wait to see what the 5270P looks like (dial options, ect)

Of those first three I actually think you have the best one, the 5970P. The 5270's dial is a bit too empty up top and has less character than the 5970 and I agree about the upside down MP on the 5204. However the 5204 would be my second choice.

The 5270P will be a nice watch, though I expect the YG and RG will be announced before the platinum version. So you are looking at 5-8 years from now, but certainly Patek with release a 5270P in due time. Who knows what the pricing will be, but we can anticipate the P version to be at least 30% more than the G version.

Forgot to do a multiquote...oops.

Thank you! I agree hahaha. But yes the 5270 is a bit empty...but I really do like this dial:

Chose a smaller image haha. Because it's got the tach back (the OG 5970G did not..then there were those three releases with the double chin...ew...hahaha).

And I love the black day month windows. Such a touch of modern class on the 5204p and 5271p...and the 5960P black dial.

An interesting dilemma and one I have been wrestling with too! I was offered a 5204P white dial by an AD this week, but at this stage am just going to wait for the October releases. As I enjoyed my 5970P (and now R) more and more, the bottom heavy configuration of my 5270G series one bothered me more and more. I am a little worried the same would be the case with the 5204........

Re the 5970J, very easy to find, why are you struggling? I put another friend from here onto one, if he doesn't pull the trigger, happy to assist you.

Love the 5271 my friend and they certainly got this one 100% right!

Haven't seen any real 5970J s. Have seen many advertisements but when you call they were all sold last week. Dealers must have made a fortune last week! :

Love the 5271 dial. Home run dial! I actually love the 5270 cleaness on series one. Not photogenic but on the wrist it is the one.

I know of one physical 5970J if anyone is looking. I am looking at the photos of it now.

For sure waiting is the best! This is better than waiting for basel!!! Haha

Sealed? Pm me :-) I've heard of some. One at a really amazing price but I couldn't do it at the time. And the others wanted wayyyyy too much. Thanks much!

Not sealed no, but like new. I am not sure I would pay a premium for sealed if I was going to wear it anyway. Are you not going to wear it?

Agree. If you wear it sealed is useless. Just lop the watch and make sure everything is ok or have a watch maker you trust loop it

The last time I bought a sealed older Patek and then wore it, I lost my shirt at resale time! Never again!

I prefer to buy everything at least sealed in the plastic if not double sealed. If I'm going to buy a watch I want to be the first to touch it...unless it's vintage. That's just me. I work my a** off to purchase and want to cut that plastic...

HAHA. But I am also smart and won't pay a silly premium for that choice....same reason I won't pay over sticker for a car (that's just me complaining about fiat dealers pricing on used f12's....love your product but REALLLYYY??....that's another topic) hahahahaha
