I trimmed down my collection.

Times change and so do tastes over time. Fortunately, not everyone's taste is the same either. In the end, you can only wear one watch at a time. I decided to keep three from the six piece collection. A number of reasons made me decide this. I am not so attracted to "bling" anymore. Also due to the growing crime rate in the larger European cities in terms of watch street robbery. Don't get me wrong, when I see a Yellow Gold DayDate or one of my other all time favourites the Bluesy it still makes me feel good.

I travel a lot, both private and business, but at this stage of my life I care more about "under the radar".

For the reason above I have let my Bluesy recently go together with my Airking 116900 which is almost is the same as my Milgauss. Today I gave my Panerai 1028 on consignment to a friendly and reputable watch dealer.

I now own and wear in rotation, my Explorer II (alround travel watch) Black Milgauss (with the stunning green glass for more dressy moments) and Tudor GMT Pepsi (which I like as a diver/travel watch)

I followed my own tastes.

I like the consolidation! Would have probably done something similar if I wanted to trim down based on the collection you had.

Congrats
I am at the point I have too many watches I just don't wear or have any meaning to me so I am getting ready to let them loose like you. Probably gonna let 4 go now to get into a Patek 5172 and within a year or so I will likely move several to add a 5270. At that point I'll be down to about 10 watches and gonna keep it right there most likely.
Congrats on finding your perfect collection.

I’m wondering why I need 5 watches. I could probably get by with 2 or 3 plus my Apple Watch.

Good on ya, Gerardus. Feels liberating when you can remove the excess. And that's a handsome trio.

I did the same thing earlier this year, sold them all! Found that I wasn't wearing one at all over the last few years with working from home and not going out much. Now I am wondering whether to add one at some time down the road, or not.

I'm keeping my Exp2 for the same reason - a robust travel watch with no compromises yet unlikely to attract attention.

I’m on a similar path. Currently at 8, but thinking of going to 5.

I have had a one in, one out policy for a couple years so my total count hasn’t grown even though the collection has changed but I’m thinking of trimming too.

Nice trio. I too want to trim down my collection. I think getting it down to 4 would be reasonable

First, a little treat with a picture of a full gold Day Date:

Second, I am exactly in the same process. I am getting rid of 3 DJ to keep only:
18038 (1984)
16713 (1998)
16613 (2002)
And of course my first Rolex of 37 years, my 16030.

I fully understand that. It was a hard struggle for me between- letting go- the PAM or the T-Pepsi. But the PAM is for me closer to the EXPLORER II then the TUDOR. I want to wear them all 3 so internal competition;)
Now I have nice gaps between the remaining three.

Thanks (and thank you all) for the responses.

Thanks for your feedback.

For me, between one to three is perfect.
As mentioned taste changes over time, buying opportunities come and go in the watch hobby. But I made up my mind regarding a 3 piece collection, this gives me the best feeling.
Unless….. the PAM (consignment) would not be sold…. at the end…by the watchdealer…. Which I am not expecting…

A very good and subdued trio! I, too, have already gone through the process of reducing my collection. Of the six Rolexes, I kept three, but unlike you, I love colors.

Lovely 3 watches you’ve reduced down to Gerardus!

My collection has fluctuated between 2-6/7 and I’ve honestly find 2 to be my sweet spot. That said, long term I’m aiming for 3 pieces, 2 of which I already have.

Can you guess which 2 are staying and what the 3rd would be…?

Have a great weekend, Niki

Nice little collection you have there.

I've stopped wearing Rolex for the time being when traveling. The Explorer II Polar has been my traveling companion for many years but anything with a crown on the dial or clasp is a potential target if someone is watch spotting for nefarious reasons. I now travel with a BB on a black strap.

I've got 2 pieces DJ41 Wimbledon, Explorer 40 and want to expand to three and that would be it for the Rolex collection. Missing link is the GMT BLRO oyster band.
