How deep have you dived?
What’s the deepest anyone has dived with their Sub, Seadweller, Deepsea or any other Rolex, Tudor?
My “record” was 51.5 metres and of course watch worked perfectly throughout. Unlike myself, got a small hit of nitrogen narcosis and ran out of air on the first decompression stop. it was very dark and I remember (imagined!) seeing a large shark down there but what was great was that I could hear my Sub ticking away and that was very comforting. Went up buddy breathing with my instructor who referred to me as a baby dolphin! Not very cool! Nice warm shallow reef dives after that.

Now it only took him about 20/50 minutes to reach that depth, but because of breathing different gasses at that depth and pressure. It then took him little over 12 hours with all the safety stops to finally return to the surface safe, and without any form of decompression treatment. Now at these extreme depths, there are several diving related problems to overcome nitrogen narcosis, decompression sickness, oxygen toxicity, sheer dehydration and the different effects of the gases when changing over tanks containing the different gas mixtures. Now while breathing the high helium mix past around 60M the gas wants to leave the blood while the nitrogen wants to rush in. Now this dive would have not been possible without a huge back up and very careful planning. Gomes is in a very small group of guys that have gone over 250m with just scuba gear.Plain fact there have been more guys to go to the moon, that have got past 250m underwater just on scuba. But most recreational divers today stick to around 30m- 40m max depth on just air. Some more technical recreational divers would go to perhaps 120m but for this type of diving you must be very experienced with plenty of planning and backup. So today the dive ratings on watches are a bit of a joke as they will never be used by man or superman in water, perhaps they make them today because they can and little more.

I'll dive with a submersible pressure gauge and an UWATEC bottom timer - and thats all.
As much as I love the Rolex Submariner I wouldnt dive with one...diving is too hard on gear and scuba is famous for that. If I lose one pin on that bracelet - the whole watch is gone forever. Not worth it. Not sure of what my deepest dive has ever been...I just don't log dives anymore. |

A little over 100’ (35 meters) for me. No real interest in going deeper. I enjoy staying around 30 - 60 feet, incredible sea life there and less stressful than a deep dive I’m sure.

about 36 meters when I was in the Florida Keys....was very clear water and little to no current. Still, rarely go below 18meters - too much nice O2 up there to be messing around where things can go wrong and quick

Snorkeling and a free dive with my Sea Dweller In February to about 5m. Perhaps a little too much watch? Of course!

22 meters, free diving, trying to retrieve a large white grouper. Otherwise, routinely spearfishing along the 10 meter depth contour...

Deepest dive (sans Rolex) 120 ft, been diving since 1995 at the age of 12. This was in Thailand with my BLNR and a max depth of about 80ft.

Did 211 feet on a wall dive in Cozumel once. Not on purpose but it all worked out.

About 80' and that's as deep as I ever wanted to go. 40-60 feet felt comfortable.

100 feet a few times. Mostly 30-40 feet is my comfort zone (I dive with my daughters) and have done many dives with the seadweller.

How deep have you dived?
Deepest I have gone is 40m for a wreck. Most interesting dive sites happen between 12 - 30m in my experience.

About 40 feet, definitely needed to upgrade to that DeepSea SeaDweller
A lazy drift dive in a tropical location with good food and tequila waiting back in town is my idea of a perfect dive trip, and sounds absolutely wonderful right now. |
