It would tell us how many soft-core porn films you hired, more like.

I didn’t realize you are a vintage collector! Maybe they’d auction that with Paul Newman’s Daytona.

In northern ‘sconnie they still rent videos.

I feel like I’m in some kind of time warp.

ha!

was just talking with my wife about it last weekend. we loved the walk to the store with the dog (rip sir poopsalot) and finishing a big bag of twizzlers before we got back home; then realizing with late fees, we should have just bought the damn video.

$100 penalty for loss of video

$20 for sale in the bin...?

wonder why then went out of business.

When I was 16 I got my dream job. I worked at Captain Video.

It was glorious and I was on top of the world. I worked there for all of high school. While away in college I would come home for the holidays and always work Christmas Eve and Day to give the team off.

Blockbuster was the devil. I used to peruse the store with disgust. They took the passion out of movies and made it a business. They had dozens of all the new releases, while we only had a handful. You used to have to arrive early, or get lucky to get one if the hot releases. Blockbuster ruined it all. Made it so accessible. At least that’s what my teenager self said.

This was right around the time of “What About Bob”.

Sad that all video stores are gone. But it’s a good lesson. And those were glorious days. Heck, I even remember smoking at the counter while working.

Glorious days indeed.

I too miss blockbuster! I was always surprised nobody bought the brand name but I guess Netflix didn't need it

So many fond memories of blockbuster. Last time I went there was on thanksgiving day many years ago. My sister was home from out of town and we lied to say we wanted to rent a video to get out of the house and

We must have spent $30 on candy by he register and left without a movie

That was an industry that came and went in super-fast time.
I knew a bloke who owned a few franchises and then suddenly realised that the industry was dead, and sold them in a big hurry.

Frame that thing asap! I used to love going to BB, did the same thing and Netflix and chilled before it was popular. Couldn't forget the candy on the way out as well. Man good times.

Cleaning Home Office Desk & Found This...

I remember driving for an hour trying to find this mysterious blockbuster store in the middle of the night years ago. My girlfriend had a paper due related to the movie La Bamba the next day for school. About 40 min in of driving in circles, I was coming unglued. This was the only rental place in town that had the movie in stock. Finally found the place, a black cube in the dead of night with burned out signage behind a Jiffylube.......omg. She passed out mid movie so I ended up writing the paper and went to sleep at like 4am. Had to be at work at 7:30 the next morning. That was my last memory of blockbuster.

My wife and I as well especially when we first started dating. We would have date night, pizza and movie at her apartment on Thursdays. Always finished the pizza but never the movie. Anyways we walked over to Blockbuster and she told the kid working the counter to put me on her Blockbuster account. That's when I knew we were officially a couple! To be young again...
