While in Vegas this weekend I feel in LOVE with the AP Royal Oak Offshore line at the Wynn watch store.

I think I'm going to pick this one up shortly. Thoughts

Description: Royal Oak Offshore, automatic winding, chronograph in stainless steel. 42mm case has a black dial with illuminating Arabic numerals, white sub dials, and a date window with cyclops eye at the 3 o'clock position. The RO and the ROO are the most popular models they have. Seems like they make a huge positive impression on their new owners as well. If you get one, write a review for us. Thanks

Will do. I have heard (read) nothing but great reviews and impressions on the watch.

The only real negative thing I’ve heard is that the style is somewhat unconventional so it’s not for everyone. Plus I think some people (in particular guys here), respect the Audemars Piguet name, however since it doesn’t carry as much weight as Rolex, to the layman, it is over priced. I couldn’t disagree more. The amount of time and effort put into all of the AP pieces, the fact that it is the oldest still family owned manufacture, and the fact that they are FAR more rare than say Rolex, makes them that much more interesting and valuable.

I love it’s rugged exclusivity, if you know what I mean. I don’t have the watch yet, but that is by choice. I will certainly own it by years end!

Service costs are rather expensive for AP. I heard around $1,200 for a basic service. Ouch. Well, I don't hold onto a watch that long to worry about it :)

I very much like the white dial version of that model, the rubberclad. And if you follow the posts on other forums people seem to enjoy their ROO watches tremendously. There used to be an outlet to Bailey, Banks and Biddle in downtown Seattle which handled their returns and I tried on several of the AP Royal Oak line in that store and also in Vegas. These watches definitely create a very fine impression, whether used or new. You will have a special watch if you wind up buying one, which it sounds like you are committed to doing.

Oh I love AP watches. The F-1 Rubens Barrichello is cool. I saw this one made from compressed carbon and just WOW!!! I love all the ROyal Oak watches. I saw a Rubens RO for like 70k USD. Is that the retail prices on these? I thought base RO are 18k retail but I wonder how much of the Ruben's RO is marked up.

I remember seeing on another forum. There was one member with 6 or 8 AP RO watches. From steel to rose gold all beautiful. I don't know how much but i suspect it was aroound 250k + on his collection.

AP is an interesting brand. I’m learning more and more about them each day. They make a lot of special edition watches which the collectors appropriately refer to as LE’s “limited edition”. The LE models you not only NEVER see discounted, but more often than not are marked up very very heavily. Sometime the LE models are as rare as 10 – 20 pieces. The Ruben Barichello pieces are LE so they get marked up, as do the Alighni sailing pieces.

Your more basic Royal Oak Offshore can typically be found at 15%-30% off of retail.

Just a few months ago I was lucky enough to buy the ROO safari model. Nothing can describe the feeling of wearing it. It's big and beautiful. Eventhough my wrist is considered small, I have no problem with the look. It's one of the finest watch I have.

Does anyone know another good watch forum that might cover AP, Panerai, Bell & Ross?
