I was the other way around.
Never really found the appeal.
I preferred color over just black.
Then, it was the last to be added to my collection and since then, has gotten 80% of my wrist time from all my watches.
I now get the appeal I never did before.
But…… it everything is for everyone.
You have to be happy.

Uh oh. Now one of you guys have to sell it. Too many people owning it and wearing it. It's lost its appeal.

Well you will see them sometimes, more so in certain circles. Would be interested in what kind of conference you were at.

What car do you drive?

Real estate conference. Saw some cool pieces but the amount of black subs I saw were something else.

Lexus hybrid hatchback and Tesla Model Y Performance

Sounds like you desire something far less market-saturated. Hmmm, have a look at H. Moser, Parmigiani, Christopher Ward, Czapek, Bell&Ross... Sounds to me like you need to forget the typical brands as you'll see them A LOT at business meetings, GTG, etc.

There's an ABUNDANCE of choices out there, seek and ye shall find.

I understand and agree with that sentiment. From observation, it’s not just a sea of black Submariners out there, but throw in every other black bezeled diver from other brands, homages, etc.

In any case I always prefer a splash of color on a watch. If I ever felt a need for a black bezel diver, I would be happy with a Black Bay.

I had the 114060 and the 116LV and got bored with both and sold them. Nowadays I sometimes think about buying a sub again. Probably would go for the WG one now.

Same here, could never connect with my 114060, also found it quite uncomfortable for daily wear (actually I find all oyster bracelets somewhat sharp and uncomfortable on my 17cm wrist) and so I sold it.

In almost 40 years of Rolex buying I never had or wanted a Sub. I did have two SS/Plat Yachtmasters, kind of the fancy Sub.
I can relate to the feeling that you just don’t want it anymore. I sold my BLNR three weeks after I got my BLRO, I knew I wouldn’t wear it anymore.

Subs are great watches in any situation but if it doesn't click, find something that does.

I used to own the previous model no-date Sub 114060.
I sold it after a year or so as it just bored me too much and I never really bonded with the maxi case and lack of date. No regrets whatsoever and made a couple of grand in the process too.
I then purchased the JC Deepsea, which I thought looked stunning. I ultimately moved that on too after a couple of years as it was just too chunky for me. I still miss that gorgeous dial. I wish they would make a sub with that dial and similar bezel with the additional markings. Would be perfect for me.
Anyway, in recent months I've had the itch to revisit the sub range again and settled on the 126610LV. Wow what an improvement over the last model. Miniscule tweaks have, for me, made it the perfect sub. Also the green gives more visual interest. A keeper I'm sure.
It's part of a larger collection so fits in well. Could this be my only watch? Maybe.

I agree with everything op has said. I would also add that it is a comparatively thicker watch compared to a Daytona or even Gmt so not ideal to fit under a cuff. I found it impractical as a daily, as I much preferred my black face Daytona, and as a holiday watch a bit boring compared to e.g. a Hulk.

I really wanted a Sub but for me now, id take a 41mm Datejust Wimbledon over the sub.

Does this mean if the Ads offered the interested buyers to try the watches instead of just seeing them from the display . The lists might get shorter as people will move on to another model if they don't like that certain model ! hmm

Coming back to the subject , yes I'm not connected with the black sub date , maybe the no date to put it on rubber however the only reason I have a sub is that I have my hulk from 9 years ago otherwise I wouldn't buy one now .

Sounds like it’s time for you to move on. That’s ok. It’s been done before.

For me, when considering the Submariner, I went with the 116610LV in part because it was a bit different from the black. Thirteen years later, it’s still my favorite watch.

For me, Sub’s (& GMT’s for that matter) hold little interest.

A black SS Sub is vanilla looking & far too common to be exciting. I’ve turned one down a couple of times. Understand why you feel the need to offload it.

No harm in moving it on OP, what about the YM if you wanted similar style but with a bit more flair?

Understand your reasoning but the sub has to be my favourite. It isn’t flashy and its slightly boring but that’s part of the appeal for me - it just does its job no fuss, is reliable and dependable and suits any occasion.

I have other watches that are more interesting or have a splash of colour, but if I could only keep one it would be the sub.

Sell it and replace it with a 16610 (5 digit Sub). That's a watch! or another option is a 16600 SD.

Sell it and move on if you do not like it, that is why this forum is so good for opinions and to sell what you get sick of. Good luck.
