The main reason the thread comes up to the top is that someone reads it and adds a comment. There is nothing new being added by the OP as far as I can tell.

You have the patience of a saint, Eric. I can’t imagine acquiring an expensive and seemingly amazing watch and then losing all access to it and the opportunity to wear it for two years. I admire your calm and your longsuffering. It’s a good thing the news seems to be good rather than bad. We’re all rooting for you and anxiously awaiting Rolex’s final word to you.

And, as several contributors have noted, this has been an awesome, incredibly educational thread. A huge thanks to all of you who’ve shared your knowledge, wisdom and insight with the rest of us less knowledgeable, wise and insightful. Well, me anyway.

Dan
Your first sentence is correct, that is how this forum works.

However, to be fair, the OP has added new updates along the way.

Yes, I was basically defending the OP; I don't think he is stringing us along. I'm sure he never expected it to take this long.

Agree with everything but I think it must be said that it is becoming more a hostage situation than an authentication.

Thanks Dan S. You are right, i didn’t think it would take this long. Too late for me to back off. Might as well ride it out to its final verdict.

Happy New Year to everyone.

Sharing details of the conversation with Rolex in public here is not going to accelerate the process, the contrary. Rolex in Acacias follow this thread …

I don’t think the OP’s intent was to accelerate anything by sharing his find originally (for which 99.99% are grateful). His updates have been respectful and aimed at explaining the delay in Rolex’s final verdict to inquiring minds.

Thanks. Acacias is the Geneva district where the Rolex HQ is located, the same place of the so called Heritage Department.

Of course, in short: Rolex does not like that clients publish details about such an important timepiece, which they are studying now for authenticity in Geneva.

Along the thread the OP has posted photos from the Rolex reception at HQ, photos from the documents he received there … I am convinced that this is not helpful for him.

Therefore I wrote "Sharing details of the conversation with Rolex in public here is not going to accelerate the process, the contrary. Rolex in Acacias follow this thread …"

We all wishs him the very best, but, in his position, I would not have created this thread despite the fact that it is very interesting for all of us to follow.

If Rolex is thin skinned enough to have an issue with any of this, it would be childish on their part. In fact, just having this documentation take this long shows how inept their record keeping is.

What a thread ! It is fascinating. Thanks for sharing in transparency all this story.
I have learnt more in the one hour reading it that years before.
Wish you the best of luck and Happy New Year!

I see the point @saxo3 makes.

Let’s stay in spirit he mentioned - hoping for the best for the OP, @Erpin.

If it weren’t for members who find the rare unicorn or two, and then present it to us with transparency, this would be a less helpful forum.

My wish is we all stay forward-focused in a positive frame of mind.

I have been lurking on the forum for a few years now and after reading this thread I had to register just to say I really hope this turns out the way we all want it to. Fascinating story so far and the most interesting watch I have read about.

The watch was auctioned by Sothebys Hongkong but the winning bidder did not complete the sale.

Recently, or way back in the past?
Are you referring to the OP's watch?
Or another white dialed GMT?

Please share the link where you saw this auction. I don't see a white dial GMT in any Sothebys I can find.

Guy joins forum, on same day posts one comment with no evidence and no follow-up on a post about an incredibly obscure watch. And then vanishes.

For the avoidance of doubt, is it your premise that @Erpin is stringing us along? Or Rolex is stringing him along
