AP w/o papers - do or don't?

Hello there,

Recently, I came across a 44MM ROO CE (26405CE) that's for sale. Seems to be in mint condition. Price is EUR 33K. Seller is reputable.

However, no papers available, only watch + box.

Unsure what the value of papers is, so would like to have your opinion on it.

Do or don't? And why / why not?

Many thanks!

I will share my opinion.. people always say that buy the seller which is true for most cases. However, in case of naked watches even if the seller is genuine, the seller may not know if someone in the past has claimed insurance on that piece and nobody has found it out yet because the watch hasn’t been sent for service to an authorized service center. I am not saying it is the case this time but there is always this potential.

Well first of all my opinion is that the anthracite dial 44 mm ROO is the most beautiful combination on an offshore. And it being full ceramic only adds to its allure as ceramic APs are highly sought after nowadays.
I think the price is ok but For a full set.

A watch with no papers would not give me the peace of mind that it is not stolen or misplaced then shifted through a trusted seller I mean the seller would guarantee authenticity but how in the world would he know how it reached them.

I know of same reference full set offered for sale for equivalent price if interested plz message me

All the best with your hunt

Papers do not guarantee that the watch is not stolen nor do they guarantee that the watch is authentic, so they should offer zero piece of mind. Papers are worth money, that is it, period. Pay less for a piece when buying without papers, and get less for a piece when selling without papers. Nothing else

Unless it's a very rare model that cannot be found with papers, don't, unless your intention is to wear it daily, beat the crap out of it and never sell it, like you would a Rolex 16610 Sub or a Datejust.

I don't think there would be any "repossession" issues with a stolen watch but if you don't really care that it COULD be a stolen piece, sure.

Two things I would worry about, especially if you're buying grey market is:
1- is the watch real?
2- when it comes time to sell the watch, you'll be docked quite heavily for not having papers and box.
