Johnny, Johnny, Johnny. Don't you know that the EXP-II is the penultimate Rolex. And that's because the bezel is fixed. Thus it lacks the versatility of the GMT-II.

Sheesh. When will you learn.

So does that mean the penultimate tourbillon is made by Girard Perigaux?

BTW Ed... wait until you get a grain of sand in your bezel, then talk to me.

Then I'll just push harder. And besides, I don't get sand in my bezel. I wear my Omega on the beach.

Oh okay... I got it now. The GMTII isn't tough enough to handle the beach, a place where my ExpII is right at home!

You misunderstand, my friend. I wear the right watch for the right occasion. The Omega has two functions that neither the GMT nor the EXP have - a countdown timer and a nice loud alarm that can be heard over the soothing sound of waves lapping on the beach. Both features are necessary to keep from burning to a bloody crisp in that beautiful Florida sunshine.

I did try to use the GMT for a bit, but I kept forgetting t look at the watch (or I had to keep looking at it) to see when the time was up.

So put that on your bicycle seat and pedal it.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree because this thread could go on forever.

The bottom line, as I've said before, is the 3185 movement and that red hand. Ultimately, the movement makes the watch and be it an ExpII (black) or a GMTII... together they are the best Rolex makes.

Now there I will agree with you.

See, I knew if we worked at it enough, we could find common ground for agreement.

Should try posting that one on that "for sale by owner" website.
See if anyone pics it up as a fake.

Maybe I ought to ban myself for Photoshop abuse on the forum!

Yeah, LM - I could present on Fleabay as a really rare prototype from the early 1980's and set a "Buy It Now" price of $50,000.

I've always said that's the problem with the SD. Such a wimpy date window, it gets lost in the watch face and you can never find the damned thing.
