Long story but will keep it short…

Was gifted a 1984 datejust in 2002 by a family member. Lived in small Louisiana town with no AD. Recently moved to Charlotte area. Took watch to AD for usual 5 yr service and was told the hands don’t match the watch!!! What?! He asked how I got it and I stated it was a gift… response was “ahh”. He checked serial number and was legitimate Rolex… had hands and dial that belonged to a different model. $1700 later, the watch is “certified”. Knowing the gifter, it was probably bought at happy Harry’s donut shop and jewelry repair.

Want to get this taste out of my mouth so have targeted a new GMT master II (batgirl has caught my attention). Thanks to TRF, I am educating my self on the grey market. Have ocwatchguy and Takuya on my radar! Davidsw has nice watches but too expensive.

Will share when I pull the trigger!!

Welcome. I like the vintage DJ and the BLNR would be a great pickup.

Why were the hands wrong? Colour, lume/non lume?
