The original. The best.

Still think this is one of, if not the quentisesel Rolex watches.

27 years old and it's still got it! Will the ceramics be as cool in 27 years?

Can't argue, a friend asked me which watch should be his next, he's been buying watches for years but has never bought a high end brand. He was looking a number of big brands, however I told him to get a no date sub. He's been very happy with the watch and has said he couldn't have bought a better watch for all occasions

I agree. As much as I love the explorers and gmts, and I know every man and his dog has a submariner, and the Sea Dweller and Deep Sea are bigger and better; I can't help think this is still the do it all-go to-ultimate one watch rolex....

No doubt. I see no reason why.

No doubt - I C. You C. He, she and it C. Sometimes, I get the impression that it is just too much talk.

The 1680 is the original Submariner Date.

Date? Why.

I personaly don't get the date version on a Submariner. It is useless as a Submariner.

That you don't get it says more about you than us. With all due respect.

We like a date function so we can see the date at a glance, and we aren't diving 24/7. I can't count the times I had to sign papers and glanced at my Sub to confirm the date, Bloody brilliant function.

And I for one prefer the cyclops look, it adds to the watch's appeal IMO. But that is why they produce two kinds of Subs: for those who "get" the date and those who don't

Totally agree and further to this....I write anywhere from 100-200 cheques a month......and I always forget what day it is.....having the date is KEY for me....I have switched from Daytona as a daily to explorer 2 as a daily for the date alone! Daytona is for weekends now when I just don't care what day it is

Oh and I leave my phone in the car when I am at the site offices so please don't say just check your phone LOL

And yes.....the sub is the best all around iconic every day Rolex :) I guess I will throw in a picture of a modern sub

She even got a little water on her...I hope its okay

I really really like that picture. As timeless as the watch, hope you don't mind I saved it.
I gotta say though that I'm partial to this model, The 1680, wow...now this really makes me all warm inside. And yes with a date.
I will own one soon.

Didn't buy my first Rolex until a few years ago when they had full metal links and good quality clasps and not these "tuna can" clasps, but I guess it's just a question of taste...
