New Batman
Went to my favorite AD today and was looking for a nice piece of jewelry for my wife. He suggested a $20,000 sapphire diamond bracelet and really liked it. He said hold on went into the back and came back with a brand new Batman. He said if you buy the bracelet I will sell you the watch. He had both styles and I chose the 126710BLNR. I did back down from the bracelet to a $7,000 pair of earrings and he was happy with sale of $16,500 for the two pieces.
That is my 6th AD 2021 Rolex Acquistion. Moral of the story is there are always nice pieces in the back and do you do enough business to get the one. He would not have brought out the watch if I hadnt bought another piece of nice jewelry even though I both two other rolexes from them three weeks ago. He knows the Batman is in high demand. The display model program makes it worse. How do I post pics? |

Good for you and nice story.
Dignity and self respect? Such strong feelings! Happy for you and your wife! Awesome get. I'd have done it in a heartbeat and I plan on getting that watch from my AD and will soon enough. Still, that being said, it's the holidays and it would be a fun thing to have my wife take part in the deal and the watch. Love it actually. To each their own and I just don't understand why so many have and will weigh in with judgement and self worth proclaimations. Tis the season to be jolly!

He was going to buy the jewelry anyways. Nothing wrong with getting a Batman along with it. Frankly, the earrings were “free” considering secondary market pricing.

You were out to buy the jewelry anyway, so it worked out well for you and the SA. In that regard, I think you did good. Congrats on the Batman!

Same. I bought some jewelry but only because I wanted to buy it or purchase them as gifts. Nothing crazy though. If my AD ever does that to me as the OP described, it would be the last time I step foot in that AD. Luckily, they are not like that

Massive win win I would say.
Happy wife with some lovely earrings, and you got yourself a brilliant watch and beat the “list”. Well shopped. |

To many, time is worth more than money. Life is short. I think he did well. The total price would be less than a grey market Batman, and his wife got lovely earrings included. I really think he did fine….plus remember, happy wife, happy life. Personally I’ve never paid over retail, but as the years go on, if there was a piece I just HAD to have, and had no chance at an AD, I’d go grey. There are no pockets in a shroud. |

Sounds like you got a BLNR. There is no such thing as a "batman". Congrats on your new gmt watch.

Take a quick visit to the official Rolex website and type "Batman" into the search field and see if the result is "no such thing" or if a BLNR appears. I'm not crazy about all the nicknames and attempted nicknames but some are legitimately part of the Rolex watch culture/nomenclature and Batman is one of them. OP congrats on your new watch and the wife's new bracelet. Sounds like a win/win all around. |

What does dignity have to do with anything? If he was out to buy jewelry for his wife anyway and then the ad offered him the watch that almost no one is able to buy at $9,700 (on jubilee anyway) then what’s the difference. I just had the same happen at a new ad I’ve been going to, I was buying my wife something anyway, asked about a batgirl, for all of you who hate nicknames, and one appeared after I bought the ring, so I bought it.. a huge majority of ad’s play that game and from a pure $ perspective why wouldn’t they? They see everyone selling them for 18-20k and they can’t so they make it up with jewelry that we all know is overpriced on a good day but again what’s the difference, at least you have something to go with the watch and not just pay 100% over retail. I’ll have it Tuesday and that deal worked for me, I suspect most people on this forum would do the same given the opportunity Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ignore the haters. “If my AD offered me a great watch at half price as a favor for my purchase history, I would stop talking to him…” Are you guys joking?!
They’re just jealous. I’d say flip the Batman so the jewelry is free, but the Batman is such a cool and versatile watch, it’s worth keeping
