Icon12 All Black Bezel insert

Great photo Mav:

I have a 16710 RED/BLACK. I am thinking about getting the bezel insert changed on mine to all black. Your photo adds my feelings that the watch looks professional and less glitzy.

I have a couple of questions;

IS YOUR BEZEL INSERT A GENUINE ROLEX ARTICLE?

MY WATCH IS LESS THAN 1 YEAR OLD, DO YOU THINK I'D BE BETTER OFF GETTING THE SWAP DONE BY AN AUTHORISED ROLEX DEALER OR TRY A DO IT YOURSELF JOB?

I've seen instructions on TURF, but I am a little concerned about scratching the case, losing the spring clip and worse still can't get it all back together again!

Your opinion would be appreciated.

Steve

Unless you are very confident I would let someone else do it. It looks easier than it is or can be. It can take a few minutes or hours. This time it took a while, the bezel was stubborn going back on. The spring is gone if it gets away from you. You will never find it again. It will be a while before I change again, my fingertips are sore. Oh, and yes it is an authentic Rolex insert. =) maverick

Yes agree Dennis that spring can sometime be a bugger,great picture but slightly let down by dusty crystal.In the past I have changed the bezel insert in a large clear plastic bag,after loosing a spring a few years back.

Mav...where did you get the incerts?

I have a GMT Master II with the pepsi bezel, and would like to have the other colors for a different look once in a while.

Thanks,

PR

If you had the older 1675 GMT Master on which the bezel rotates both directions hence no pesky spring to leap out and hid on you, you get a round friction spring which just sets.... :op I just knew there was a reason I like vintage :o) :o)

Yes, I have lost the spring and it is so easy to do and will drive you nuts trying to find it. That is not dust, just a bad pic with a lots of noise. Here's a couple better ones. =) maverick
