If I charge mine up with a flashlight before i go to sleep say 11pm, I can still see it clearly enough to read at 5am, with your eyes adjusted to the dark you can see it well all night.

Being a new Rolex owner I just can't understand this concept of having to "charge" the watch. Does that mean I have to carry a flashlight with me at all times so that I can charge the dial just be it gets dark? My rolex doesn't seem to charge itself off natural light , it only charges if I hold it in front of a bright light as you suggest.

By comparison I have a 10 year old cheapo $20.00 beater Lorus watch with lumin face and I have never had to charge it , and it glows nice at bright all night long , I assume having charged itself from natural light.

I have a 250.00 seiko skxoo9j that is blinding all night.(newish)
I have a cheapi bulova marine star (few years old)that is fairly bright.
Then there is a ten year old bulova chrono that is in between the two in brightness and duration. (Remember-ten years old)

I think there is more involved than the type of lume and the age of the watch. Batches?
Like a crappy blended whiskey? Maybe I am wrong.

I don't know what happened in this photo but like the exaggeration of colour lol, the camera phone ain't very good, but with the side table lamp off the colours showed up better.

No, lol, I don't keep a flashlight with me just for that purpose, this was an example. But even with the light from room lighting it is enough. Of course not the bright like in our charged photos, but as soon as you get your night vision if you wake up during the night you can still see clearly enough to read the time.

AP ROO chrono 44 mm

Lasts as long through the night as a SubC, with the hands a bit easier to see. A Panerai 275 was even more legible, though.
