Shattered ceramic Pepsi bezel

Hello everyone I recently shattered the bezel on my ceramic Pepsi trying to open it with a pressure case back opener I didn’t take any pictures of the damage because I dropped it off to an AD right away and I’m just overthinking but while I wait for there response is it possible that they refuse to replace it because of how it was broken? Improperly using a case back opener? Thank you

I would think they will just charge you for the repair.

Well opening it would void the warranty, but it wouldn’t be a warranty fix anyway. No reason they wouldn’t replace it.

Edit - also the way you actually broke it may of just saved you some money if you’re lucky they won’t charge you for a service on the movement because there was no fall/impact.

I hope so it’s a 2018 so they might service it anyway I was just worried because I heard Rolex doesn’t like to work on watches that have been working on just wanted to be sure this isn’t one of those instances

It is a damage issue which has nothing to do with service of the movement. Do they even need to open the case to replace the bezel?

No but from my understanding Rolex won’t even touch a watch that’s not within tolerances so if it’s off by a little bit mandatory service or they won’t change the bezel

I recently watched this watch polishing video, and the guy doing the polishing mentioned that they never detach the bezel insert from the outer ring because 95% of them crack when removed, I think he said it only happens with the Red/Blue and he said that’s the reason that Rolex have production problems with that bezel. I don’t know how true this is or if that’s exactly what he said as I’ve only watched the video once and can’t completely remember, here’s a link just in case anyone want to watch it.

That’s what I was getting at. I have 3 Pepsi’s (all 3 bezels are different) 2018,2021,2023

I would be annoyed if I had to swap the OG to a new one

I was one of the first people to break one many years ago when the watch was first released. You can find the post under my profile. I think I paid $1500 for the replacement at the time.

They will charge you for the insert and labour to replace expect around $1100 plus, although the ceramic inserts are slightly better in the scratch department then can shatter then expensive to replace .

Without being too "Captain Hindsight", this is a lesson for everyone that trying to learn about movements is probably best not done on a 10K Rolex.

Videos and other on-line resources are a good start, and then a nice cheap NH35 Seiko movement (or similar) would be more appropriate for a practical play-around.

That said, I really hope RSC sort it out for you OP without charging you a kidney to do it.

I’ve heard rumors that PESI bezel was prone to shattering due to a complex manufacturing process, which is what drives the low production numbers.

You'll be charged and you will likely get the more recent darker bezel as a replacement. Interested to see the results.
