More platinum models. I would also love to see a white dial Explorer.

Like many others, it’s the same hope/prediction as it’s been for too many years: Coke GMT.

YM II is the only model left in the catalogue with the “older” generation of movements.. It’ll either get updated with a “new” chronergy movement and maybe new case/dial redesign or it’ll get the axe.

I think the opposite, Submariner goes back to 40mm, with a new case, which the GMT also then uses.
Large watches are falling out of fashion, and bringing them into a unified case will streamline production.

Thankfully I am already on it.

A little bigger and it would absolutely be my #1 choice. Add a glide lock clasp and oh my.

curious to see what your thoughts are for next year; lets get this going .

  • Submariner: this year, aside from the mk2 lv update, nothing big came out of the 70th anniversary. although unlikely, there is still some time left for a release before end of year. perhaps a platinum like the daytona, new titanium, or an oysterflex option?
  • GMT: 2024 marks 70 years of the gmt. can we expect a platinum or return of coke bezel? perhaps a bump to 41mm?
  • 120 Years: 2025 marks 120 years of rolex. rolex had and is fully capable of making more complicated movements - perhaps this is a good time to introduce such complication? i made an interesting post on the datocompax here.
  • Milgauss & Daydate: 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of these models. Milgauss was discontinued last year but with tudor achieving full metas certification, perhaps we see a new model to celebrate. For daydates i only see new dial variations coming out.
it seems rolex updated the copy on the gmt page saying it launched 1955 marking 2025 for the 70th anniversary. im hoping we still get a coke or at least a new bezel variation for this year with a more drastic release in 2025 (new case size, platinum w/ ice blue dial, titanium?).

as mentioned 2025 also marks 120 years of rolex, so perhaps smaller releases this year and a lot more then?

taking a look at the submariner page, says launched in 1953 marking the 70th anniversary last year. outside the mk2 update, nothing was released but perhaps a new variation in titanium (similar to yacht master).

I think Rolex is less hung up on anniversaries than Omega — and some of the Crown biggest redesigns had nothing to do with anniversaries. It redesigned the Sub in 2020, the Daytona in 2016, (re)launched the Root beer in 2018, launched a new Yacht-Master (42) in 2019, the Perpetual 1908 last year...

Didn’t the sub just get the newer sized case a few years ago? I think the gmts might actually go to the 41mm not the other way around.

Either way, I do think it’s weird that they have the 40mm and 41mm cases

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if the GMT is redesigned with a 41mm case. That would be my bet. No way are they making any changes to the Sub except maybe new colors.

There will probably be some Submariner anniversary watch which never came out in 2023. The GMT line will stay the same or be completely refreshed with a new case size. What I mean is that there will be no half measures for the GMT this year. Either completely changed this year or absolutely no changes. If there is no change, it will definitely happen in 2025.

The Tudor BB58 will finally get a T Fit clasp as well as METAS movement & completely lose its gilt lettering. Like the Submariner the color scheme will be black & white.

I've lost interest in any new releases. The one thing I've learned over the years is that it's a bunch of stuff that hardly ever arrives at your local dealer until the end of the year if they are lucky enough to get any of the hot releases, and then it's never really available to the general public for years anyways.

It'd be different if it actually felt like some of these new releases were obtainable, but that's just not the case unless your a VIP customer.

I am interest to see what Tudor does. My wife bought me a BB58 blue for my birthday and I immediately sourced a Ranger t-fit bracelet. It makes the watch. Love the rivet less bracelet but the adjustability is great. Really wish my BLRO had the glidelock.

And then we get to see 1/2 the internet freak out about how Rolex ruined the GMT with what is really about .5mm of a difference. Those Sub 40 to 41 threads were hilarious.

I'd love to see Tudor continue to move smaller and add a 34mm Prince/Prince Date successor.

For Rolex, I'd love to see more white dials, Exp I, OP, Sub. I'll take whatever I can get, which is probably nothing, but you get the gist.

According to two AD in Switzerland
Sprite will be discontinued , as they have some issue with the movement failing on an unacceptable percentage of those !mine has gone twice since I got it in august 2022!

I also missed this. That’s a really nice surprise :)

I wonder what the case size will be if it doesn’t need the ring command system?

Anyway glad it’s not just a cosmetic update.

Thanks for this info.

plus return of Meteorite dial Daytona. With all the changes to the Daytona line last year Rolex didn't have time to work on colorful dials. This year is the year of the Daytona dials. Rolex has been concentrating on the GMT for the past years.

41mm is not large. It is the lug to lug that is important and the thinness of the case
Dive watches don't look good small IMHO

The trend for smaller watches is only amongst enthusiasts. Many people have tried and not got on with 36mm like me. Which is why the explorer 1 went back up

[QUOTE=askdanny;13044658]I wrote here about Rolex filing a patent for a new movement:

The idea could be a winner but some parts in that movement looks very delicate for it’s application.

I'm hoping for some new colored dials on the DayDate 40mm model.

Rose gold or a Platinum Sub would be nice, but I don't think will happen.

Maybe that board member that had the links to some of the new models will do some more investigating this year. A lot of people picked on him, but he was right in the end.
