I got my first a 1970 5513 (dad paid $182.00 for it new) as a graduation gift from dad in 1986. So foolish of me to trade for my gmt II in 1996. Now i wish I would have just kept it and bought GMT outright.

I got a Sub date for Christmas 1974 when I was 16. I still wear it and just got it back from service today.

Just got my first three 3 weeks ago as a graduation present to my self. SS Sub with Date. All my friends give me shit about spending so much on a watch, but every time I look down and see it I know its worth it.

I used to have a friend love to do that to me too. About 20 years ago we got into a long heated discussion as he compared his Casio to my Sub and how it was so much better at a fraction of the price. Didn't matter how durable the Rolex was, it was a waste of money.

Just the other day I asked him about that old Casio and he laughed and said it's probably in a landfill somewhere as it stopped working nearly 20 years ago and he just threw it away. The look on his face when he realized I was still wearing my old Sub and found out how that old Rolex had appreciated in value was priceless.

18 fresh out of high school in the 80's the night I graduated. In high school I owned a Folex, I thought that watch was so cool. My father gave me a new (authentic) SS DJ with the tapestry dial (steel colored) R16220A/ B6251. It was one of the best moments of my life it really meant a lot to me I used to stare at that watch for hours and I was very touched as I never suspected the gift or even foresaw it. I want to do the same for my son. I sold this Rolex to buy my wife a ring the first year we were married. I miss the watch because of what it meant. I do not miss the old style bands as in my view they were not as good as the Rolex bands of today.

23 Datejust

I was 24 when i purchased my first DateJust after earning a BA in English. I am now on my 6th Rolex. Unfortunately, I flipped my DateJust; I should have kept it.

43 big ones. Bought the Rolesium YM in Switzerland while on a battlefield tour of Europe with WWII veterans from my dad's U.S. Army unit. The watch will always serve as a memory of the sacrifice these great men made during WWII.

Here's one for you, Ronnie. My 1940ish Rolex British military backup pocket watch. This one might have landed on D-day, who knows?

I just got my 14060 in February. I am 31, got it used from a certified watchmaker who restored another watch for me. It is partially a graduation gift, I also chipped in. I still have a few months till graduation (PhD) but It was getting to the point where any sub was beginning to get priced out of my range.

As for another is in my future? Doubtful, I have several other watches, but I really have no interest in wearing them anymore. It did cross my mind to get a tudor sub in the future, to wear when I can't wear the sub (travel, going to cities where one could get mugged), but the prices on those are a bit silly
