The 812 is just something else. Did they really make you drill the front plate though?

Thanks! The plate bracket is a spring loaded clip on made by Carbonio. They keep the police away, I had no plates on the others but continually was pulled over for the no plates . I guess they have nothing better to do but withhold that section of their mandate.

^^

I really want both a 458 (again) and an SLS. I might very well do both over the next few years if prices drop a little. And my lucky run continues to roll. I have problems.

Same here in the SLS front. I have been quietly searching for that car again. If I find the same spec I am going to buy it.

Thanks. Not a Z, really not an anything as nothing is left from stock haha. It has an LSA I built myself so it’s a hard one to part with.

Can’t compete with some of this crew but I love her nonetheless.
997 in all of its analogue splendour.
No nav, no digital radio. Just the beautiful sound of that flat 6 engine purring along.

I just got my 997TT and love it. Just right mix of modern capabilities (and safety) while still being analog as everyone says.

Something for everyone.

I like all the newer stuff. Love the tech in new cars.

I’d have a modern exotic and all the tech if I could afford it lol! I’ve driven a 991 GTS and the steering isn’t numb by any stretch, and think the same could be said of anything past the first few electronic steering racks in a proper sports car.

Really the 997 hit a sweet spot of affordability (without selling the camaro) and tech, all while hopefully not losing a bunch in depreciation. I wanted at least an 06 or newer as that is where safety took a big leap, and at least one of these cars needs to be suitable for taking my daughter and soon to be born son for a ride in.

560 rwhp, no traction control, no crumple zones, no safety period... not for the family lol.

A bit of a story…..This one came very unexpectedly.
In 1996 I bought my first (what I considered at the time) nice, sports car. 1987, guards red, black interior, front and rear spoiler, 911 Carrera.
I met my wife early 1997, we went on dates, had great memories, etc… in the 911. Then in 1998 we were expecting our first child.
So I did what I thought was proper and sold the car to get something more “practical”. Plus, the extra $$ at the time came in handy. I hated selling it, but I remember her saying, “you’ll buy another some day”.
Now….I’ve bought many nice sports cars since then, including 911’s , but when I saw this (1988, 1 year difference) exact spec I sold almost 25 yrs ago…well…the rest is history, as they say.
I’ve seen some throughout the years, but never one as nice as this. This thing is basically like new mechanically, and aesthetically. Just shy of 52K miles, seats just reupholstered in the same exact leather pattern as stock, and the rest is original and almost flawless.
This picture is from 1997

Interesting. I got my first 911 in '94. It was an '89 black coupe similar to yours, but without whale tail. Loved it, learned to change the oil on it, took it to the track. I sold it in 2000 with about the amount of miles you have on your '87. That Guards Red looks really nice. I have a buddy with an '87 in GR that hasn't been lovingly maintained. I think he's had it for 20+ years, but the patina is kinda orange-y. Yours looks like the beautiful red it is supposed to be.

Great story and great car Rich. My first Porsche was a 1987 930 turbo cab in guards red that I got in 1991. Loved that car!

PS then I got a 1996 993 Turbo coupe in guards red and man do I wish I still had them both!

So many amazing Porsches in this thread! I really would love a newer one but can't seem to convince myself to sell my 996. Also a pic with my buddy's 930 flatnoseFB_IMG_1575297429372~2.jpg
