First off, I don't like the flippers either. I would rather these watches being sold to enthusiasts instead of the flippers. However, on Chrono24, probably one of the largest resale location for watches, there are a little over 37,000 new Rolex watches for sale. Seems like a lot, but one needs to remember that Rolex sells over a million watches a year. So the number of new Rolex watches on Chrono only accounts for 3.7% of Rolex watches sold. Let's throw in another 1.3% from other grey market dealers and that's just 5% of the total Rolex sales. So ~95% of the people out there are still getting their watches from an AD. So in the overall scheme of things, it's a relatively small percentage. And as others have said, a product of supply and demand.

Seeing the original post on this thread, and how much time has elapsed, I really want to ask the OP, "how's that boycott working out for you?"

People take this crap too seriously. And they also take themselves too seriously, but that's another thread... :)

Your math is correct. I don’t think how you got to those numbers is correct though.

Maybe he’s telling you you’re “crappy”? Ignore such negativity. Let if go. We knew, from the start, that this thread would go sideways…..

It's the other way around. Rolex AD's have been boycotting me for the past 3 years . Nah, it's all good. If they offer me a Pepsi, I'm game .

A large number of those listings on C24 are not real. Meaning there is no watch in hand. They find a buyer first then source the watch in dealer forums and group chats.

Seems to me that Rolex is esentially boycotting itself which is fine with me. Far too many beautiful watches and superior watch brands to look at.

First of all, a listing is not a sale. Many online listings, whether it is chrono24, eBay, or others...are just fishing expeditions by the same arbitrage artists. They list a bit over what they think they can buy for if a buyer bites the hook. As often as not they can't and just tell you it's already sold. Ten listings may all be trying to broker the same watch. Not all listings of course, but many. Look at Ebay, you'll see 8 different Japanese sellers listing the same watch. They share inventory just like a dozen little Tokyo restaurants will share a kitchen.

Second, current listings definitely don't equal annual sales any more than the 20 gallons of milk in the 7-11 cooler today mean that's all they sell in a year.

Third, they all start as a sale from an AD in most countries. It's one after the other, not one instead of the other.

Fourth through 15th...too much to type on my tiny phone keyboard.
