How tough is AP?

Do you treat them like you treat other watches? Play sports, actually swim in? So far I've been treating it a bit like a vintage Rolex, minimal water exposure, no intense activities. Can they take punishment???

Yes but will show wear as finishing is much higher than say Rolex. Of course if you have a ceramic diver then you're good to go, 15202 etc different story.

I am pretty careful with mine, though I know it can handle bumps and bruises.

My diver has been worn a lot. I take it off when I doing anything routine work around the house. Slip of a screwdriver could be tragic to the finish. I swim with it, run with it, exercise with it, do pretty much everything with it on. It's even tumbled once onto a desk during a tang buckle tightening and it keeps on ticking. I treat it like the Rolex's that I've had. The diver has been a top notch sport watch to me.

I'm much more careful with my AP over my Rolex models.

I'm pretty careful with most of my APs but I've worn my FC Diver daily for almost a year now and it still looks new. You would be hard pressed to find any scratches or signs of wear. I have not been easy on it but I have not abused it either. Its held up much better than than the Rolex DSSD that I wore as a daily beater before the FC Diver.

Basically, I wear my FC Diver like I stole it.

My 15202? While I don't go out of my way to abuse it, if it happens to be on my wrist and duty calls, I don't take it off (it's gone swimming, taken a shower or two, and farted around with the kids at the playground with no ill-effects).

Regards,
Adam

I certainly don't bang them around.

However, they are meant to worn and can handle most things.

But do you really want to beat up a $50K watch--I don't.

Ap 15300st

I wear my Royal Oak as an everyday watch and it's fine. Not as durable as a Rolex, but on a different level of finishing and sophistication of course.

You do develop some scratches over time, but I believe this gives the watch character.

The only "weak" part of the watch is the clasp I believe...I do have to tighten the screws every now and then that hold the tabs which allow you to release the clasp as I find they get loose over time. I've also had the send the watch back to AP once to get the clasp replaced because the original clasp was defective (The tiny springs which keep the clasp locked wore out within a year).

I have to admit, I'm slightly more careful with my AP's. Reason is the finishing. They're scratch magnets.

No favoritism

My 15300 gets the same treatment as all my watches regardless. That means it's got dings and scratches that will need to be fixed when it goes for service.

The myth of Rolex toughness irritates me when all I typically see is people doing normal everyday activities that you could easily do with a Lange, Patek or VC. And then they fret about taking off the stickers...It's like people buying SUV's and the only off-roading they do is to mount the sidewalk outside of Needless Markup.

Define "punishment" ... they are fine for daily wear. They might show more scratches as the finishing is more delicate ... but they are ok for the typical daily stuff.

ROO is a very tough watch. Take a closer look at the tantalum bezel especially around the 5 o'clock mark... Running perfectly.. A true daily "beater"..
