Sorry Kyle, there is a difference between 'untidy messy' and 'dirty messy' no inference of the latter was intended.
Faith, you are just sooo perfect but show us your desk so you can be eligible to win one of these great Turkish Rug pen mats kindly offered by Chris

I really like natural lighting for reading & writing. There are some great desk lamps available these days.
Yes that is an Atmosphere clock Ian.

This is where the magic happens . . . Permit me to introduce my bear, Chub-U-Lonce. By now you must be well-acquainted with the trusty and beloved terrier, Taffi, then of course, there's yours truly. Look no further; we are the winning trifecta.

I think you have it wrong here. I believe the quote is: "A neat and tidy desk is evidence of dirty drawers".

The expression is that "If you're going to be posting a picture of your desk, clean the frickin' magazines from the late 60s & early 70s off of the suface area." They were piled up to Chub-U-Lonce's head!!!

I'm not at the office right now...as a matter of fact I'm in the Bay Area for the weekend...so I'm going to have to submit this previous photo of my desk. My MB ms rollerball is there on top of my notebook. I'd like one of those pen rests/rugs!

Our very cluttered desk area + my MB Chopin
I actually tend to write in a number of different areas, since I always have a journal with me.
