Finally committed

I’ve been hemming and hawing about which PP to make my first from our boutique, and yesterday I finally settled on the 5396R.

A bit nervous, but I kept being drawn to it and when it was briefly pulled from the catalog in February. I was genuinely disappointed. I guess that was the sign that it’s the one for me.

I won’t take delivery until late May as they need to keep it on display for an upcoming event, and I’m totally okay with that.

As someone who is OCD when it comes to deciding on stuff like this, it wasn’t easy.

Anyway, just felt the need to share…

Great work! How’d you get them to commit an exhibition piece to you?

Gorgeous, classic patek. I saw it recently too at that boutique and tried it on. Congrats but just be sure you want a display model after its been handled. Its not a particularly hard reference to get in the secondary market.

Thanks! I have a long standing relationship with them over the years and when they became an AD for PP they asked for my preferences (they also know I’m well aware of what’s realistic for an initial ask).

They offered me a couple of Calatrava options which I liked but didn’t love so I narrowed it down to the 5205 and this, but thought the 5396 wouldn’t pop up again new.

Appreciate it. I’m not too worried about that and I could easily walk next door to EWC to get a pre owned, but I’m okay with paying retail for this-a Calatrava not so much.

I had the privilege of being hosted for a day at the Stern Institute in NYC a few weeks ago and would be just fine with them cleaning it up if need be.

Thanks all! I usually don’t prematurely post an incoming until it’s on the wrist, but I’m truly excited to be transitioning to PP from my Rolex journey

Waiting until late May for the delivery must feel like forever, but it'll be worth it to have it on display for the event. It's great that you finally made a decision after feeling disappointed when it was briefly pulled from the catalog. Can't wait to hear all about it when you finally get your hands on it!
