Hi Fabio! There are many opinions out there on this dial. One of the most prominent scholars is Pucci Papaleo, who wrote the book "Ultimate Rolex Daytona."

I attach here an excerpt from his book. We believe 16 are in existence and that the dial was manufactured by Singer Co.

What is not known is why they were produced. Some believe as a prototype to show Rolex a potential new variant. Others say they were commissioned by Ferrari for their racing team at the time.

Unfortunately, we'll probably never know 100% for sure.

This force is strong with this thread....some amazing pieces.
I have avoided the Daytona affliction for the most part outside of a short affair with a 16520 white dialed reference a few years back.
Joe's Red PN really stands out to me. Love the vibrant dial. Looks like it should be on a wrist holding the steering wheel of a very fast car👍🏻
