Day-date II vs. Day-date 40
HI all - first time poster here. I am trying to decide on whether to buy a day-date II or day-date 40. I've only found one youtube video comparing them and wondering if anyone here has made the decision before and why you went with what you did. Thanks a million - can't wait to see the responses!

For me it was a no brainer. DD40 has better proportions (IMO) and I like the technical advancements of the 3255 movement and the ceramic pin inserts for my WG version.

A lot of it comes down to size. How large is your wrist? Yes the proportions are different as others have pointed out, but the 40 is a smaller watch overall than the II.

DD40 every time.
I tried both and actually thought the DD II was nice enough, just a bit chunky. This was before I saw the DD40...once i strapped that guy on, it was over.

I've had both and the 40 is the one that's stuck around. To be fair, though, it was really more of a bracelet fitment issue, and not the proportions of the watch.
Having said all that, my grail, the one that got away, is the WG DDII w/blue wave dial. Sigh... |

I had a 41mm. Regret selling it. I didn’t wear it enough. 1mm isn’t a lot.

The deconstructed Roman's is what does it for me, therefore DD40 by default.

I went thru something similar. Tried both on, the II is much larger/wears larger obviously. Basically, try on the DJII it wears the same.
The DD40 is more refine. Plus has the new ceramic pins to prevent stretching. The DD40 (to me) has better dial selection. I'm going with the DD40 once I have the coins saved up. Ironically, I prefer the DJII over the current DJ41.

No doubt the day date 2 in platinum and it has the ceramic pins and the day date 40 in yellow gold.
