Grandma to Granddaughter.

My Mom has been gone over 24 years (I was 28 when she passed). My oldest daughter was the only one of my four kids she got to hold. Well …. Fast forward. That same daughter is getting married at the end of August. I’ve been holding her grandmas watch all this time unbeknownst to her. I think I’m going to have it serviced and reconditioned and give it to her for the wedding. Hopefully she will want to wear it at the ceremony or during some of the bridal pics. I’m excited to give it to her. Still miss you mom. Sorry for the sappy post, I got emotional getting this watch out for the first time in decades.

Agree! Rolex needs to never forget it’s not just about the high spend collectors but these growing family traditions.

The bonds these baubles create that transcends generations. That’s what really matters. Not the superficial sh!t.

Thank you for the read OP. Congratulations to your daughter.

I've heard Rolliworks could do a good job reconditioning it. It would likely need a service too if you'd like it to be functional but it may serve just as well to have it cleaned up and look nice if it's still running

Love it.

I would get it serviced, and do so right away. August is not that far off. It would be tragic for that to be held up in a shop when the day comes.

Joyous occasion all around...wedding...passing down an heirloom. Cheers to your family and to the watch being passed down to your future granddaughter.

Now that's full circle, and congrats to all of you all the way around. Remember, you never actually own a Rolex. You merely look after it for the next generation.

It’s been a long time since the last time I saw a post so meaningful. This is what a Rolex is for. Are you going to be able to keep it together when you see your daughter wearing this? Congratulations.

Thank you all for the kind words. I’m truly humbled.

To answer your specific question. I’m a softy. I won’t be able to keep it together regardless of what she is wearing. ☺️

What a wonderful idea. This made me tear up. I totally understand. It’s why I need to collect 5 New Rolexes. That way, I will have one to leave to each of my children.
