Vintage service in Toronto area

Rolex Canada will charge more than 'standard' service rates to work on a "vintage" watch, but they will service the watch for you and their repair work is very good.

I currently have a 5513 at Toronto RSC for an overhaul, as well as a newer Datejust which went in a week later. I'd requested that the 5513 hands, dial and bezel not be changed and they were fine with that. They also agreed to give the case just a sympathetic polish so as to keep the original contours.

They don't have a vintage department as such, but was told that only a very few of their watchmakers work on the older models, hence the turnaround time for the 5513 will be a month or so longer than the Datejust.

They also initially wanted to replace the bracelet clasp because of wear. I asked if the part with the date stamp could be switched to the new clasp, but apparently that was one of the worn parts. They eventually relented, with a caution that if I were to wear it diving instead of occasional wear, I really should have the clasp replaced first to avoid losing the watch.
