AD told me 25,450 for CPO 2010 Hulk!!

Went by my local AD that I’ve only bought one watch with and told him if he had any Hulks come in on trade to call me as I’d be interested and he told me he had a CPO incoming and he would call once it came in. Well, he called today and told me it was a 2010 CPO and the price was 25,450! I told him I wasn’t expecting that much and told him I’d pass. I can buy a 2018 for 19,500 grey. Can’t believe someone would even think about paying that much for a 14yr old watch.

Well documented and reported that CPO prices are “aspirational” at best….

There are times in life when we have to ask ourselves "is it really that serious?". This sounds like one of them......

They can shove that price where the sun don’t shine! It’s a shame that Rolex has a program that is destined for failure at these crazy prices.

it's only destined for failure to people here that know where to buy at the right prices, but regular people don't and then a huge amount of people are also paranoid about buying grey. how many posts do you see here about people second guessing purchases from trusted sellers?

regular people were also buying gold watches for msrp when everyone here was getting 25% off them 5-10 years ago and they probably never even figured out how much they were overpaying. a hulk for 25k is pretty bad but there's definitely a market for CPO, it's just not us

I saw a Hulk at my Ad for $27K CPO I did not even ask for the year they are crazy.
Rolex does not care what the ADs do period. So the games go on once the market goes down where things are below retail again. Maybe things will change?

Good one! New Ferrari? I don’t think so. But I do have this 2012 for $100k above market, if you’re interested in working toward a new one?

People gladly buy jewelry from
These stores at 400%+ markups. Why not a Rolex at 100%?

This makes total sense now.

I called the Rolex center in LA closed. So then I call the one in New York to see if they can check a serial if it's lost or stolen before I buy it. The service center tells me to expect any 3rd party watch is stolen to play it safe. She proceeds to tell me I should buy new at an AD and I say easier said than done. So she then says well go to the Rolex site and look at the CPO program and you can get one that way with no issues. Well now I know why she pushed that idea so I can pay over inflated prices.

You've got to remember, that us watch geeks know the prices of these luxury items. We study the market meticulously to find the best example, from a decent seller at the price that offers us the best 'package'.

Other side of the coin… A rich kid walks into a Rolex AD, hasn't got a clue how hard Rolex sports models are to get, they just want a Rolex because Daddy and most of his business associates wears them. The SA tells rich kid they don't have any new Rolex because yada yada yada, next thing you know rich kid is walking out of the store with the next best thing, a CPO hulk/GMT/Daytona.

Apply my little story to a newly retired ex business owner that just cashed out, a crypto bro or the spouse of a very wealthy person etc. These people just want their new to them Rolex and paying a few grand over the market price is pocket change. This is who CPO is aimed at. Not us!

Very true Scottyboy!! Rolex CPO's have many different marketing strategies and that's one of them!
