Could someone help me ID this Rolex?

Hope this is the right place to post this, apologies if not :)

My girl was working in a Rolex store, found the watch and handed it in. It was unclaimed, so she's now got a shiny Rolex! However, we're having trouble identifying and/or valuing the watch. Have looked on the Rolex website and it seems to be some sort of DateJust, but we can't find anything on there that is exactly the same.

Seems to have diamonds on the numbers. Have attached some pics.

She was working at a Rolex store and handed in to the store? In other words to herself? :)

I hope you meant the police, that’s where you’re supposed to hand it in.

It's pretty normal to hand found items into the manager. There's a whole lost and found policy. It's in a massive well known department store.

Irrespective of the moral issues

Looks like ref 69173, not worth a whole lot, maybe a couple of thousand with no provenance and someone looking for it.

Why don’t she just wear it and consider herself lucky?

If she works at a Rolex Boutique, why did she no ask her employer for help identifying the model? Wouldn't they know? Just curious.

She works in a "Rolex store" and needs help to identify a watch?

No one else in this "store" can help her?

Not much of a story.

Well she didn't remember to do this, could probably go back and ask, but it's easier to post online than get the tube for an hour :P

Well she's not in the store now is she. People seem pretty paranoid.

Interesting.

Several articles on line as to the changes that UK police have instituted regarding procedures for lost property. Seems they are bowing out of the business.

See: https://www.met.police.uk/ro/report/...5&stepid=1-2-2

Short form, found on private property like a store, turn it into the manager. The Met does not want to spend their time on this.

There has been a lot of criticism on this decision. And I agree with the criticism. But it is what it is.

But legalities and morality aside. It I still don't under stand why an employee at a Rolex store would need help identifying a Rolex.

Yup, she handed it in a month ago, got an email Friday saying it was unclaimed and she had two weeks to collect it before it went to charity. We collected it yesterday from the dept. store's customer service place.

Not entirely sure what people think the OP’s daughter has done wrong here.

People lose things every day, and I know from personal experience (wife is a police officer) how under resourced the police force is, so the last thing I want them spending their time doing is dealing with things people have lost.

It is a little curious that the OP’s daughter hasn’t gone to the Rolex boutique, but curious is different to suspicious.

I don’t know anything about the Rolex DateJust but it doesn’t look quite right to me, particularly the date font and magnification, but I could be talking nonsense.

That doesn’t make any sense. So someone lost a Rolex at a Rolex AD and no one bothered to call for it?

And if lost in store and not claimed should it not be the store’s property rather than an employee that found during a shift?

Someone is missing that watch regardless, I’d try a little harder to find the rightful owner.

Looks like a fake to me. Also, the "story" seems a bit difficult to buy into.

Lol not my daughter, girl I'm dating. We could go back to the boutique but we're hungover and it's like an hour away. She was a host so not trained in identifying watches.

I agree. That may not be a genuine date wheel imo but I’m not as familiar with these fonts. Though researching further I have seen examples with similar font.
