Upcoming 50 Anniversary year for Royal Oak. Wishes/predictions

Hello AP family! It looks like next year is going to be a big anniversary year for Royal Oak line. What are your predictions/wishes on RO anniversary models that will be released? Sizes, colors? P.S. Really hope to see RO Chrono in steel with open case back

RO chrono in steel with the new movement is a given - AP said so, just waiting to ramp-up movement production.

15202 replacement is also a given/announced, but details seem to be closely guarded. Maybe new movement, but only microscopic changes to the design?

A ceramic two/three-hander in 39/41mm would surely be a hit, if maybe a bit too obvious. Ceramic chrono would be nice as well.

I think bulk metallic glass is going to feature in the near future. I think it will either be used on the new Jumbo or on a limited edition release. 2022 will be an exciting year for AP.

2022 is going to be a big year for sure. I wonder who announces first, AP with their 15202 replacement or PP with the 5711 replacement?

Will AP wait until April (I believe the 1972 launch month) to announce the replacement, or will they ship in April?

Given the big year, it wouldn't surprise me if AP announced early in the year and then rode that PR by dropping their other releases throughout the rest of the year. Just speculation, nothing more - actually it's more hope than speculation.

Also, for some reason I can't see them making a ceramic 15202, does it fit the 'style'? I'd lean to a full BMG version that at least looks like metal. Maybe a ceramic 41mm though.

The first incoming of a full BMG model gets my vote for TRF member of the year. Plus, I'd like to be your friend please...

I don’t think AP will mess with Jumbo success. I’m thinking a more exact reissue of the A series - white date wheel, closed case back LE in a precious metal (guessing gold for 50th) and a “regular” production in SS. I don’t anticipate a revolutionary update.

I might be reading too much into this, but AP's page on the Ti/BMG 15202XT seems to offer some clues. What do y'all think?

The Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin Only Watch is the last unique piece ref. 15202 powered by Calibre 2121, first introduced on the Royal Oak in 1972. Heralding a new era, the case and bracelet combine sandblasted titanium with polished Bulk Metallic Glass, while the dial evokes its origins.

I do think we will see more BMG options in the future, but only in Limited Edition variants of RO. The process of manufacturing BMG is more complicated if i remember Michael Friedman explaining it. I think we will see a similar roll out as per the RO chronographs with the new movement - PM first, before stainless steel down the road.
