He took up my suggestion to keep riding his bicycle. Smart decision. He'll thank me some day.

Generally speaking, most people hate 16 yo's who drive $80K cars.
Sure it's just envy but you can understand it.
It suggests "spoiled brat", "rich kid", and other stereotypes.
Most people will correctly assume that "Daddy bought it" and so instead of looking 'cool' you just look like a prat.
The type of girls who are attracted to you for your car are not worth knowing anyway.
I'd think a much older American musclecar (in good nick) would be better for the image.

I was fortunate enough to get a car when I was 16. It was a 1986 Toyota Celica GT-S. It didn't run, so it was free. If i wanted to drive it, I had to fix it.

But on to your case. I'm a sucker for the Benz E class. Mature and classy. That's my two cents.

1) Buy the M3. It's an icon and an unbelievably versatile car. It consistently gets excellent best in class reviews.

2) Although less of an icon, the C63 AMG is a wonderfully engineered car with an incredible deep-bass engine sound.

And what second car should he get to drive in winter snow? Agree M3 great car but only for Spring, Summer and Fall here. If you had an M3 during winter here it sat in garage for 4-5 months. Need AWD or X drive here to survive.

I wish there'd been someone around to give me advice like this when I was a kid.
