Man you guys are harsh, didnt you read his other post. He's been driving already for a year and can easily handle the AMG. He knows what he's doing.

I have had two C63's, extremely fast and easy to lose control in. I don't care how well one thinks they can drive, but at that age with no real experience it's a recipe. Go for a 3 or 4 series.

In all honesty, I wouldn't want any of those cars as a teenager.
I'd have a blast in a soft top loaded Jeep Wrangler.

Same here. A teenager with an $80K car is a recipe for disaster. Earlier this week, I had a run in with a teenager who "borrowed" Dads corvette. Everything was great until he lost it doing upwards of 150 MPH.

Even if I had the means, there isn't a snowballs chance in hell I would get my kids anything that requires premium gas.

Ford Taurus, until your frontal lobe develops.

Buying an M car or an AMG will be much more satisfying when it is your own money. You don't want to be the James Spader in a John Hughes movie.

Is the normal teen ready for a high horse power vehicle, no.
Is his physiology ready, yes.
OP stated he might have to drive this car in snow, Which means he is not on a closed circuit. So yes, This is a general public driven automobile. RWD cars and lack of experience in driving RWD cars on Ice are where I draw my conclusions from.

My son turned 17 two months ago and i asked him what car he would like to have and he said" Nothing fancy, an used CUV like a RAV4 ora CRV until I get more experience. They are reliable and have enough room to load all of my stuff"
My wife and I must have done something right wth his upbringing!!
Straight A student starting Pre Med next yr!!

And if you still want to choose one of the four- Range Rover.

Get the range rover! More room for all the ladies. I use to drive my moms 330 bimmer at 16 and I worry how that would have turned out if it was packing 4-500 hp. Just my thoughts at age 26.

Nobody is mentioning a word about being stupid

But 5 seconds on the accelerator or 'pedal to the metal' might be a stupid thing . . .

And I owned some high performance cars and bikes during the years . . . and it always has been a challenge NOT to floor it

Maybe not. IQ and common sense can be very different.

I had a fatal one night I handled. Two dead teens. One ejected. One dead in the back seat. Two fast cars racing. One kid was thrown so far I found him across the street on the side of a closed gas station almost a half block away. All their friends standing around crying.

They were severely impacted by the grotesque deaths of their friends. I was too and I did not even know these kids.

Smart kids. Through the process of the trial and later civil suit the survivors had all grown up and some were in Uni.

I have more stories similar to that. Common theme, too much horsepower and not as someone mentioned earlier complete frontal lobe development.

By the grace of God I survived my teen years. 70 Chevelle with a 350. Got half blown up by a bomb later. Seriously. Right out of high school I joined the Military Police. A disgruntled cook that had been arrested ( we called it "apprehended" in the Army) blew up my friend's car in the MP parking lot and my Chevelle was parked right next to it. Dam shame.

Anyway. I think we are being trolled so perhaps a mute point.

I really disagree with children having performance underneath their feet. Their attention span is far too narrow and short to comprehend the capabilities and advantages of a performance car. It takes years to fully grasp the potential of those cars and further still how to use them properly and responsibly. Even adults, they are out there don't know.

Buy a 2014 Mazda 6. Your parents will be delighted in many ways.

Range Rover if it was up to me.

On a side note, NOT posting your age or personal information in this thread would have been wise and would have helped the atmosphere as many do not believe a teen should be given an $80,000 car.

Best of luck.

IMHO the OP may be tempted, or goaded, at some time to test the limits of a sports car on the street creating a dangerous environment for himself and others in the road so an SUV (RR Sport or Macan) would be a good choice.

As the OP mentioned, he's got some performance driving experience and forum members have correctly stated that high- performance drivers are in GT3 and F1 cars early. All of these situations take place in a closed, protected environment surrounded by peers with similar skill and training (not to mention appropriate emergency response personnel at the ready).

A high performance sports car may well be within financial means, and to some extent the OP's level of skill, however I politely suggest that a certain level of maturity and respect allows a person to walk away from the temptation to engage in risky behavior on the road (some adults included). A sports car will only increase the likelihood of injury, property damage, or worse.

I live in the Middle East where the roads are frequently littered with teens and early 20-somethings being disentangled piece by piece from the wreckage of Porsches, Lambos, Ferraris, etc that their loving parents were sure they could handle.
