Is there any special care I should take with Papa Smurf?
Heu guys, yeasterday I've posted the acquisition of my grail watch.
Now I'm wondering if there's any special care I must take on the WG Sub. Tks in advance. |

I wouldn't say that there are any special care instructions! Just a wash in soapy water every now and then (I do mine weekly) and a regular rotation of the bezel to prevent grit from being jammed in, which could prevent it from turning smoothly!

Being gold, it's obviously softer than SS, and hence more prone to scratches, so perhaps wear it a little more carefully than a SS watch .... other than that, enjoy!

A bath every week or so, just like the rest of your watches.
Feel free to keep posting more pics of that beauty!!!

People are saying don't baby it etc. but I don't think any one can deny that it will suffer more from a beating then a stainless steel watch and also be more prone to scratches.
Saying that unless you plan on climbing mountains with it I think you'll be fine. Just exercise a bit of common sense as to when it's suitable to wear it. |

This watch was just my grail, not my son! As for that, I just wondered if there was anything special I should do to take care of him, as sometimes withe gold can turn a little yellow. I'm not concerning about scrathing it, although I'll be carefull! Thanks everyone!

Just wear it and enjoy it. As said wash it every few weeks. I know gold is softer than steel but in my experience the gold mixture Rolex uses is pretty hard. I think it appears to "scratch" easier because of all the polished surfaces. IMO I've compared gold watches to watches with PCLs like the Milgauss and GMTIIc and to me they pretty much get the hairline scratches the same. To be a little clearer I'm not saying gold isn't softer but Rolex knows what they are doing and I think the general concensus about the gold being a noticeable amount softer than the steel watches isnt exactly the case.

Wash regularly and avoid allowing others to drool all over your amazing new smurf!
