16202st vs 5320g salmon

Since they are fairly close in market price right now, which would you choose to buy this year? I’d like to think I’m not dumb enough to spend grand complication money on steel watches w/ date function yet the market seems to disagree.

Thoughts?

To be fair they are two totally different watches

Sporty the 16202 all day especially in the SS

The Patek is a classy connoisseur piece elegance and horological complication

I own the cream 5320 and 16202ST.

If part of a collection, the 5320g in cream takes it any day of the week. Cannot comment on the salmon as I’ve never worn it and prefer my cream over the salmon.

I prefer metal bracelets over leather for daily wear, as a one and only watch the 16202 MIGHT be the winner but it would be a tough decision.

Tough one!
People say this all the time and I roll my eyes but; buy both!
What else do you have?
I know I’d wear the ap more with my lifestyle but love both. They’re both long term keepers.

Go for 16202BA/16202OR would be the best choice.

At retail, 16202st all day. At current market prices, I would opt for the 5320.

Good point. However, seems like some of you all think 16202 is still the better option.

I think every AP collection should have a 16202st. It's a great piece at under $40k retail. I wouldn't entertain it at the current market prices. It's not worth the same value as a PP Grand Comp.

Just got offered a 16202st anniversary B&P unworn for 70k OR 5320g salmon B&P unworn for 71k today. I can only choose one..

In today’s market, the jumbo is probably the safer choice if I want to sell later to fund another watch purchase (even more so with it being a 50th anniversary) but there’s a part of me that thinks jumbos will come back down in the next few years like how it used to be pre-pandemic and that grand complications might get their turn as being hot timepieces which would make having the 5320g the better option today for long term holding.

Would appreciate your thoughts!!

Who knows how Patek collectors will view the 5320 a decade or more down the road. I have always liked its 3448/3450 based dial layout but the triple-stepped lugs may be a little much for making it a timeless watch. I am also thinking they must make a ton of them. My AD pretty much always had one in the shop window when I walked by.

If it was between a Jumbo and a 3940 I'd have an easier time to say Patek. If Jumbo I might go 15202 for romantic reasons but I can see the appeal of the 16202 50th if you'd ever want to resell.

despite I'm big fan of AP, I'll opt for 5320g.

I feel like when the hype train dies down, we're going to look back at posts and think how insane it was that basic steel watches were once in line with PM complicated pieces from a top tier manufacturer like PP.

Jumbo is still sick but at MSRP.

Literally this!! Not even a contest. A white gold grand comp perpetual vs a SS time and date without even a seconds hand
