Daytona 126500LN - white or black dial? Why?

What is most versatile- dress up and down? Opinions?!

Black. White dial is the hype dial.

I don't think there's much of a difference in versatility, but I have both and prefer the white dial

If you figure out the answer, please let me know.

I like the black dial more on my wrist (ever so slightly) but in a collection of black (or dark) dials it’s a refreshing change to pull a white dial out.

Soooo…..both?

Since I only have the white dial, I'll go with white. :)

White is a lot more sophisticated and pops so much. Black is under the radar. Someone who doesn't know watches may would think that it came from Walmart, which may be a good thing. White looks expensive. White is more legible to my eyes, too, and it's just so visually pleasing.

Much to the chagrin of many members here, I passed on a black a couple months ago while I wait on the white. I'm feeling uneasy about it, but my SA continues to pump me up the white is coming for me soon.

White is the way to go if you can't have both! Black when you don't want to be noticed, white for all other times.

The black dial wins for me hands down, it’s a much better looking watch IMHO

I like black more, but since most other watches in my collection are black, I'd go with white

Not a fan of any of the modern day Daytona, but depending on what part of the world in Asia they seem to prefer the Black. While most of Europe and USA prefer white, but speaking for myself I always buy the type of dial that I want to own and wear.

White - it just stands out more, for me, the white against black bezel is much more interesting ..
If you were able to get either I really doubt you’d be disappointed ..

Honestly, they are both great. That's why I want to have both eventually. I think the black is more formal and white is more sporty. I prefer the last gen white. The current gen black is also great, but the last gen black subdial had more details.

The new 126 gen has chrome rings around the sundial on the black. I’m trying to trade my dad’s 116 for a 126 mainly because of this difference and the straight stick hour markers. I also love now how the bezel surround ring pops.
I personally trade my 116 white for the new 126. Couldn’t be happier. In white the old 116 is more bold but next to a white 126 looks less refined to me in person and in hand. I didn’t like it at first but in person it totally changed my mind

You highlight a nice added feature of the silver rings around the subdials of the black 126. As far as the white dials comparison, does the “refinement” of the 126 mean it’s less sporty to you?
In pics, I really dislike the new thin subdials, which is why I’m leaning black, but I find myself warming to the white 126 when I see certain wrist shots. Your comparison picture is very helpful in showing the difference in character.

This whole "more refined" is something you see repated all over social media as well. I don't know who originally coined the phrase with regard to the 126500, but I see it in every post comparing the 116500 to the 126500. It is not some that are calling it "more classy", some calling it "more refined" and some calling it "more delicate" or whatever, which to me says that there are some level of parroting in it.

That being said, it is not nessacarily because I think they are wrong, but if I want refined or classy I'm going for a Calatrava, a Lange or the new 1908. For a Rolex sports watch, I want....sporty?

I loved my 116500 white but always felt the bezel was tacked on and not a part of the watch. I liked the wild circus like contrast. With the new 126 I didn’t like the bezel ring either in pics. We were all so used to seeing a ceramic Daytona like this for years so we were used to it. then seeing the 126 in person totally swayed me. The ring makes it a more cohesive design and not an afterthought. Instead of the black contrasting more against the 116 white dial, it now complements the 126 white dial. The new bezel ring thins out the black bezel just a little to flow better overall. The thinner sundial rings are way more elegant to me. The fat rings now don’t look good to me. That’s what I mean by more refined. I debated the trade for 2 weeks. 2 visits to the dealer. Now as an owner for 6 weeks I like it even more. Absolutely no regrets. My mom has a 116 white. That size is good for her. My dad has a 116500 black and I’m trying to get him to trade as the new black universally is agreed to be a “better” update. When I saw his 116500 black last week, the black bezel matches the black dial better than the white but the new 126 ring is a very nice feature that I now love more.

Nice comparison pic, and (being a big fan of the 12* myself), I couldn't agree more that the 12* just looks more refined and classy than the 11*.

To the OP's question though, I personally prefer the black dial.

I think generally speaking anything in a black variety will be more versatile. However, if given the option of which one I'd like to add to my collection I would choose white.

The color dial picked me. It wasn’t a hard decision. That said, I would mind a black one to finish the collection.

You've taken some incredible pictures of your Panda and LV. What phone did you use?

If I can get one at retail I don’t care about the dial color.

I was a huge fan of the 116 in white. When the 126 came out, I preferred it in black. I currently have a 126 in black. Both great!

I dont really like the thinner subdials of the 126500. For me the 116500 and 116520 were the perfect balance.

And for some reason, the thinness of the subdials is more prominent for white dial, so for the new variant, I would prefer black. But hey never say no to any daytona.
