The single perfect watch

What, in YOUR opinion, is the single most perfect watch ever made?

Doesn't have to be Rolex, but I figure that most of us are here for a reason.

Casio? AP? Rolex? Cartier? A. Lange? Something completely different??

What are YOUR thoughts and opinions?

It’s kind of like “single most perfect automobile”, there are too many use cases to crown one ultimate winner (if you’ll pardon the pun). But it’s a fun thought experiment. I would nominate a simple 3-hand, no complications… something like a Patek 5227.

I’m a Rolex fanboy so for me it’d be the Submariner Date LN.

It doesn’t exist

Seriously though, there’s always something about any watch I’ve owned that could be improved … as hobbyists, I guess we are a finicky bunch.

I’d say the Submariner 124060 is pretty close, except for the clasp being a smidge large.

The single perfect watch

The original Rolex: The iconic Oyster Perpetual. Time only, classic design, and beautiful in its simplicity. If you need to know the date, look at your phone.

For me, it’s this one… No frills, and nothing particularly elegant about it… It has pretty much everything I want or “need” in a watch, and is a reminder that I should occasionally be able to splurge on something for myself.

Sub or Sub Date for my taste, both are fantastic and I'm pretty split on which I prefer. Have the Sub Date currently and am perfectly happy with it and have enjoyed having the date available at a glance.

That would be my second choice, and will likely be my next Rolex.

Steel Submariner, or Explorer 1 and 2. There’s three choices and most of us aren’t capable of making just one.

I'm not sure this is such a thing as a "perfect watch" overall, but I feel there is a perfect watch that meets our need/desires. I value accuracy in a watch above all else, so I agree with Roger Lococco on the Apple Watch, especially the Ultra variant. it ticks a lot of boxes for me. I'm also a G-Shock fan.

For a traditional, analog watch, I picked up a Seiko Astron GPS a little over a month ago and it could easily be a "one and done" watch for me. Solar power, GPS time sync accurate to 1 second every 100,000 years, perpetual calendar, and dual time zones.

If I were picking mechanical only, then it would be the Speedy Moonwatch.

I've been enjoying everyone's responses!

I thought this might be a fun topic. There is, of course, no right answer - but to see people's opinions and thoughts is absolutely fantastic!

For me, I hope that someone brings up a watch I don't know - or points out something really amazing about watches that I do know.

So far, I am loving reading all of the responses.

This one. I’m not saying it’s the best watch ever, because I’ve not encountered enough different ones to know for sure. But this is the best watch I’ve ever owned, by some margin.

Cough cough, apart from its slow movement…

For me. For now. This one.

It’s relatively inexpensive. Zero pretentiousness. I feel good wearing it. Love the design and how it feels. It’ll go good with near any attire. Can wear to work and in front of customers. Can bring on vacation.

My perfect watch is having two. One is more sporty, the other is more dressy. But I can swim with either. I can also wear either with a suit. Perfect combination that covers every scenario.

Before the 124060 came out I’d say the 14060m. The 41mm, adjustable clasp and larger hour markers make it perfect to me.

The BB GMT covers all the important criteria for me: form, function, and most importantly, the sheer joy it provides every time I wear it.
