9 days until I find out what my wife bought me

My wife bought me a Rolex, apparently. She told me she went to the AD, and won't let me see her side of the closet. My 4 year old said, "mom bought a watch."

For 9 days, until Father's day, I will not be able to think about anything else.
I had told her that I want a SS Daytona, GMT, or Explorer 2.

This will be the hardest 9 days...

My parents told me this every year for the first 12 years of my life.

Didn’t stop me sneaking into ever cupboard, under every bed and even in the loft.

A leopard doesn’t change its spots. Good luck for the next 9 days.

I agree with bp1000, I did the same. Most of the time I was disappointed so maybe waiting will be worth it.

I would keep your integrity and not peek. But I would temper your expectations. A Cellini is a great gift. If you get one, feel lucky and enjoy. Anything different is icing on the cake. Whatever this is, I think it will one of your favorites in the collection.

Congrats on your Explorer 2....tone.

PLOT TWIST, She asked for an Explorer 2 and they said "yes this is an Explorer TWO tone!"

Hope you like 36mm watches and gold bezels/center links.

oh this is going to be fun! What I normally do is temper my expectations and see if the surprise is to the upside. Let us know how this turns out next weekend!

Wouldn't it be hilarious if............yes, she did go to the AD. And yes, she did buy a watch. But, in 9 days, she ended up showing you HER new TT rosegold 36mm datejust with diamond dial/bezel.

I wouldn’t peek. This is a gift from your wife and child for being a great dad. Personally I wouldn’t feel like I deserved it if I snuck around and found it prior to when I was supposed to get it especially after being told I don’t get it for 9 days.

Stay strong and congrats, sounds like you’ve got an awesome wife and kid!!

How long ago did you ask for the Daytona or GMT? What does your relationship with the AD look like? What other watches have you bought from them in the past? I want to lean toward the GMT, but could be the new Explorer II, which is a very cool watch.

I just need to be suuuuper occupied with work for 9 days. It's killing me. Laying in bed last night knowing there is a watch box 20 feet away.
At least, I hope.
What a cruel joke or twist or whatever if it turns out to not be a watch!

I went through this last Christmas. Although it was agonizing during the 3 weeks before, it was worth waiting for the surprise after the fact…good luck!

Might not be the watch you want, but remember its a gift from your wife and child. Enjoy it, will hold a lot sentimental value.

Yeah she said she had a good connection with him. Sounds nefarious... .

Hilarious comments above about the watch. What if it's a joke and got me a Casio...

Call the AD. Express your thanks for helping your wife pick pick out the watch. Tell them it wears great and you are very happy.

Then ask them to email you an appraisal for your insurance company. On a brand new watch they should not need to see it. And should be able to rip one out in a minute.
