16610 Sub v 16570 Black dial

Genuinely interested in community thoughts.

I have a Polar 16570 but have come to the conclusion that I prefer black dials on my watches! The polar is not subtle or versatile enough in my view. Love the size and feel of the watch though. Especially like the thinness of the case which is important for me.

Retailer I am working with is happy to exchange for a 2009 16610 or a 2008 Black 16570.

I am torn between the two but favouring the Black 16570 as I know the dimensions are perfect for my 7.25inch wrist and have a feeling in my stomach that the 16610 whilst being an icon will be too thick for my taste (the bezel on the 16570 slopes down which is perfect) and too obvious as a submariner can never fly under the radar.

Thoughts welcome as I need to decide by tomorrow!

I think you said it all.
If you are looking for subtle and already love the specs on the 16570 Polar, then the black 16570 is going to be great with no surprises.
Only thing I can add is that for some reason, and it is purely optics, the white dial version looks larger on the wrist than the black dial one (I have both and also a 7.25” wrist).
The black dial 16570 is my go to travel watch. On a NATO band it is just the perfect exploring companion.

Bought my 2008 M serial, 3186 movement, in Honolulu at Honolulu Time. Love it!

And here's me walking the dog (in Utah) with it:

Are you certain you wouldn’t miss the polar? Because a Submariner + Exp. II Polar would be a great combo.

I'm looking at adding a 16570 black dial as well. even though I have white dial daytonas, for some reason the exp II white dial doesn't resonate with me. YMMV of course.

Edited to add that I have several variations of black dial subs as well, but I think the silver exp II bezel sets it apart from the subs (which I am a big fan of)

16610 Sub v 16570 Black dial

16570 is my youngest son grail watch. He wears a black dial with the RRR rehaut. It’s a true adventure toolwatch.

Both great watches that I enjoy wearing. If I had to choose, it would be 16570. Simply less common, the flat steel bezel makes it perfect to wear under any shirt cuff. Simply a great everyday watch.

From what you said, sounds like the 16570 is the way to go.

Another vote for the 16570 here. I miss mine all the time… the sizing and spec on that model is special. No frills. Lean and mean.

Thank you all for the comments and photos. Have swapped the polar for 2008 Black 16570 and should get it in a few days.

All your thoughts were very helpful. Appreciate it.
