How long to wait?
Hi all!
I’m looking to get a push present for my wife due in AUG and met with AD to express interest in a steel jubilee DJ 31 in MOP or pink. How hard are those to come by and how long may a wait be? I’m gauging if I should visit another AD or even go grey market. If they are relatively common models I would just wait. Thanks! Jeff |

For what I know it should be 6 months or less depending on AD

You can get pink by Aug. MOP will be a much longer wait and could be more than a year if you do not have a great relationship with AD.

been waiting on pink 31 DJ with diamond indices for 14 months... ADs don't know for sure... My SA's best guess when we ordered was "around a year."

Visit a few ADs and ask to be added to the list.
Explain its a push present and your timeline.

My SA offered me a pink stick (!), would prefer an MOP, do I hold out until AUG to see if it comes up? He did mention there’s a long list of people interested in MOP.

Go introduce yourself at your local ADs. Share with them your story
Come by and visit them often.... with what you are looking to acquire, should not be an issue! share your story when you receive your watch

I got my wife a 31mm purple in about 7 months. I asked for the jubilee + fluted bezel but they got in that watch with a diamond bezel which doubled the msrp. But I bought it anyways. If your waiting for a specific combo it could take some time. Generally the ladies watches are the easiest to get from the AD but the AD doesnt always get the combination your looking for and they dont get as many 31mm DJ as 36-41 DJ.
It also depends on the combination your choosing. If its very popular and others with more history at that AD are currently waiting (pink is probably on of the most common as 31 is a lady's size) you'll have to wait longer. Also, the AD cant directly order a DJ they get an allocation of X amount and they don't know what combo it is only X models of that model number. If you're waiting for a very specific setup its just luck of the draw. And you may want to find other AD"s to ask for the same watch. Cant hurt especially as a 31mm DJ is a perfect first watch purchase. |

DavidSW just listed a pink dial 31mm OP. Price was reasonable to me but I have not paid much attention to these. Check it out.

Wait is entirely AD specific as to whom they sell to and what allocations each AD gets. Only your AD can give you a valid answer. They could have one which just came in they could sell to you.

Such a broad spectrum from AD - AD, so is very difficult to ask, but worth going in and trying .. good luck ..

Thanks for this comment. I was offered a diamond bezel too and it was over my budget. I will wait for a preferred combo and hope for the best. I was mostly curious if MOP was impossibly rare but seems like they come around.

It’s funny sometimes. I waited a month on my 126500 daytona - but can’t get a time frame for a blue OP for my dad or a MOP diamant datejust in 36mm lol

Unless you have seen them all in person there are some wonderful combinations out there. Ask them if any come in to be notified. Reach out to numerous AD for sure. The term used for this present is ridiculous…I would guess it’s a C section anyways. Best to you guys!

I read your post and thought, he can’t really be calling that a “push present”. So what you really want is a new Rolex for a new Mom. Talk to a few ADs. Did you ask your wife what she wants? That’s important. Best wishes on the upcoming new baby. I have a new grandson due in August: my 15th grandchild, and likely the last one. A 31 mm DJ should be obtainable within a short period. Make sure to tell the SA that it’s to commemorate the birth of your child. Good luck. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Congrats to your growing family as well. I met with an AD and they have been helping me. Got offered some options but will wait for my preferred combo since I still have a few months. See how things go. It’s also a surprise but I have some hints. |
