Ya I think the beers do that! You have great hearing if you did hear it ticking. My ears are shot after many a year cutting fascia without hearing protection. Where was OSHA back when I was a young lad! The jury man I worked with used to say ok kid get your cigs out and tear off the butts to use for hearing protection when the iron workers used to lock down the steel beams.
Also the fall protection was none existent back then. I remember the first time climbing down the outside of a 6 story parking structure to remove the carriage bolts on the forms. One hand a sledge hammer the other to hold tight. Not tie offs then, climb out then wrap my single lanyard around the strong back. Then lean back on it an hope for the best. I was a scared pup then.
Nowadays they have all kinds of fall protection. Ha the good old days.

Sorry got off track on that thread! Must be the beers.

Aloha,

Tom

I have "artillery ears."

Ticking watches are not something I can hear, although if I hold a Rolex directly to my ear, I can hear a chiming and the same thing happens when my wrist is beneath my pillow and for some reason that chiming is amplified.

You didn't know Rolex's have solid lifter cams in them? They make a sweet sound.

I can't hear any watch tick. Working in a machine shop....being around race cars.... and firing those things that go pew pew pew.

I'm drinking strong Spiced Rim and Coke Zero right now....so my DSSD seems to sound like a wave crashing against the shore for some reason. ha

I have noticed this as well! I thought for a long time that I was hearing things when I went to sleep but eventually realized it was my watch making the noise coming up through the pillow. To me it sounds like a high pitched whine.

Haha, funny you should mention that I get it too sometimes if its really quiet in the room, not sure its drink related although it could be. What i have especially found if youre in the pool and its quiet, let yourself sink down and sit at the bottom, then you will hear it clanging away big time! Lol Try it! I think its the higher density of the water that transmits the sound waves in a more amplified manner!
