Scratches, newer models, longer time owners?
How do the new polished models (126...) hold up wrt scratches and so on? Do they still look good with all the polished surfaces that "wear out"? I would love to see some pictures and experiences. I try to take a bit of reasonable care of mine, and wear happens of course, but it gets me a bit curious.

My GMT meteorite shows a lot of hairline scratches on the PCL but they are not very deep. Yes it is not as shiny as it was in the first week but after more than two years daily wearing it and cleaning it once a two weeks with water and dishsoap it still looks darn good!

Not many reactions... May be the scratches subject itself gets dull here...Ill never sell mine, the watch getting older will be just that over the years and we will see.

Any mirror finish when exposed to more abrasive surfaces will inevitably scratch. If you are concerned about scratching, modern Rolex won't sit well. Most of modern Rolex is now shiny, polished, ceramic, etc. They are essentially disco balls for the wrist, save for a few models.

The more I like a watch the more I wear it. The more I wear it the more scratched and bashed up it gets. If it's working properly and I can read the dial the cosmetic condition will be assessed and addressed as appropriate when it needs more serious attention. The most sparkling and box fresh watch I have is my oldest one which was serviced when it went wrong in 2022 and came back looking brand new.

Wear on a watch is part of the pleasure of ownership.

If you're worried about scratches, you go out and buy a chinese Sub $200 watch. And I'm not kidding!!!
This a Baltany made with hardened steel after 6 months of wear (4 months as a daily in total) I wanted to test their claim of it being VERY scratch resistant! I have to admit it lived up to the claim. The ONLY damage are two dents after hitting it pretty hard against a steel door frame. There aren't even hairline scratches on it! I wish my Reverso was made using the same steel Sent from my SM-A415F using Tapatalk |

The Baltany metal looks really good then! Maybe it has a hard layer on top of it?
