AD visit Friday

Got a text to come visit - for sale were 126619LB and 52509 WG 1908 w/ matte black dial. Amazed at the heft of the WG Sub, great looking piece in person, just not for me. I was actually tempted on the WG 1908, pretty darn impressive. Case is nicely done, matte black dial plays charcoal gray if you ask me, and the movement is beautiful.

Notable display models: 126713 GRNR, 126710BLRO, BLNR and VTNR all on Jubilee and coup de grace a 126500LN black dial. First of the new reference I have tried on. Damn I am impressed and really hope I get mine at some point in time. I left empty handed, but did a lot of trying on. Nice visit.

Any pics?? Glad you got to try on some nice pieces!

That new platinum 1908 on black leather is definitely calling to me as a contender for a dress watch someday

Those will land on somebody's wrist. Maybe things are loosening up.

Getting a call to come in and then coming in, trying on a bunch of watches, only to leave empty handed is a great way to not get called back IMO. After all, the sales person spent all this time with you and got nothing back in return. I’m sure they like your company but remember they have a job to do. If you don’t want the watches I think it’s better to just tell them on the phone.

I disagree, unless the watches were on the customer’s want list. The Daytona wasn’t offered to him. He’s fine. OP, I love stopping by my AD just to try on watches. Glad you got to try on some cool pieces.

Oh boy.

Rolex of today is a strange world. Never did I think we’d get to the point where we should adhere to the commission schedule of a luxury clock salesman. Surely I can’t be the only one that thinks this is absolute madness, especially for adults.

Absolutely. Nothing wrong with shootin the "merde" with a salesman to let them know that you are still a potential buyer. But turning down stuff you don't want will remind them to offer you what you do want.

And if they don't offer you what you do want then keep your money for something else in your life. The sales person won't be getting any commission or a sale to help keep their job.

Yes, it boggles my mind how these sales people have been elevated to some mythical status. People forget that THEY are the customers with money, yet give all the power to the sales people.

No wonder things are the way they are. Gee, don't forget to get your salesperson a gift....LOL....

I think I understand both sides of the argument. Salesman has to sell and make money however we need to try on the watch to see what we like and possible it is not to our liking to spend our money.

I think this demonstrates you are a watch enthusiast and know what it is you are interested in purchasing. Great to try on these watches as there is no better way to know for sure. Thanks for the report and glad you had a nice visit!

Lol at the stuff I see on this forum. The stickers are barely off the Root beer they sold me earlier this year. Not to mention, I buy jewelry there and mother's day is coming up. I've been good to them, and they've been good to me over the years, I think we will both survive me popping in a shop literally two minutes from my house, looking at some watches and leaving without buying anything.

And Duke, if they want to sell that one to me, you'll have a hard time beating me there - I can walk there almost as fast as I can get in my car and get there lol!

Duke, was that you that made the trip over to Dallas and visited Grand Caliber? I know Nick Arnold that is there. Nice kid. Knew him when he was just getting into watches.

So your text was to come in and visit and "on offer" was a Bluesy which now goes for about 30-40% off retail and a 1908 that no one is really looking for... AMAZING - how KIND of the SA!!!

Sorry for being unreasonable but this is exactly the kind of BS that makes you wanna go grey in an instant - like who cares? The exact model no one want are for exhibition only (welcome to 2019) and the rest is "build a relationship"....
