Favorite LE Speedy?

I was thinking about buying my first Omega. Due to it's cool history, I gravitated (no pun intended ) toward the moon watch. Then I leaned toward maybe a LE one for Apollo 11, since after all that was the mission that the first watch was worn on the moon. The 45th anniversary is not for me, but I do like the 40th and 35th anniversary models. So I thought I would pose the question....what is your favorite LE Speedy?

I normally like to have a date function, but to stay true to the classic design, I figured I could move the chrono second hand to correlate with the date each day? Does anyone else do that?

Thanks!

I like the 45th and FOIS. Don't own either, but I like 'em.

In my opinion, it's either the Gemini IV or the Soyuz.

It's not flashy, but I'm very partial to the "Italia" model:

my take

Gemini IV was pretty special for me..

But the most special LE for me is the Mitsukoshi, the original black and white model made in 300 pieces only:

I've owned several LE Speedy Pros; 20th Apollo XIII, a couple of Apollo XVIIs, a 35th Anniversary, an Alaska. For me, Omega has "cheapened" the idea of LEs by producing huge numbers of each edition and coming out with another LE every couple of years (or less).

I've owned a couple of dozen Speedy Pros over the years including a vintage 105.012 but the only one left in my collection is the First Omega in Space. It's not an LE but openendedly numbered. I love the vintage look coupled with the reliabilty of the modern 1861 movement.

In sense though, my FOIS is an LE (1/1) as I replaced the OEM case back with this custom tribute to Wally Schirra's Mercury flight:

I actually just like the regular speedy, not a fan of all these limited editions.

When the 35th Anniversary was introduced, I loved the white dial but did not like the mission patch covering the display back. A local watchmaker received the 35th's dial and hands from Omega in error and offered them to me. I found a 3572.50 and the transformation began:

Ending up with this:

Another 1/1.

The two Speedies I have are LEs.

I happen to like this one very much. The Apollo 15 35th anniversary.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of love for this one. Up to this point there had not been many two-tone editions of the Speedy. The rose-gold looks fantastic.

The other one I have is the Apollo 11 30th. Not really a very limited edition, I think all the 1999 production had the "limited" caseback. But I like the fact that it is just a normal Speedy with a different caseback.

Note: Not my pictures. Both stolen from the interwebs.

I find the panda dial - whether 35th anniversary or Mitsukoshi, to have terrible legibility. The hands are almost impossible to see against the background and the hesalite adversely affects the viewing angles. Cool looking but impractical.
