Hello.....New man
G'day from Oz,
I am first threading here. I have recently become owner of Submariner 16610. My first Rolex. I am ultra pleased with it. Detailed examination using 10X loupe indicates watch is in fine condition for Y Series. I only have one small complaint about it and wonder if it is common to all Subs. The lumin fades away after an hour or so. Tried to burn up the time with a full size Maglite 2 inches away and it glows like a beacon, but still by 4am (P time) it's barely visible. I also have Omega SMP which has much more lumin stamina. Its good 'till sunup! SMP is about half the price. Will the Subs lumin turn vanilla color in a few years? Cheers 4 now Tardis |

First let me welcome you to TRF,yes agree the Luminova lume on your Rolex is not the brightest. The super Luminova used on the present day models is much brighter. And Luminova does not discolour, like the older Tritium which would patina over time, to a dull yellow or slightly orange colour.

Let me add my welcome, Tardis. Glad you could join our happy group here at TRF. Stick around and enjoy the fun.
As for the lumina, frankly, I think all Rolexes suffer from short luminous status. My Y series GMT has the same problem. It can't match my Omega Speedy or my GP ww.tc for luminescent stamina. But that's why they make flashlights - so you can see the dial in the dark.

Welcome Tardis, are you bigger on the inside than the out ! ( Dr Who style )
If you haven't seen Dr Who you won't have a clue what I'm talking about. Anyway, the lume on your Sub will be poor compared to the SMP, I have owned both and totally agree with your comments. Welcome to TRF.

So, please don't lump all of us that live "across the pond" into one big group of unknowing souls.....thanks for that! Oh yes, welcome to TRF, Tardis. We can accept you even if you do come from the land down under. j/k I'll tell my Australian wife that we have yet another Vegemite eater on the forum (not sure how you people don't barf every time you eat that stuff!). She is currently trying to finish a jar before it goes bad. My questions is, how would you ever tell? |

Hey, guys, do you think we are without the wonders of British telly over here? We've picked off all your best stuff - "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", "What Not to Wear", and all that good stuff.
Sorry, but I never could get into the good Dr. Just wasn't my cup of tea. I think it reminded me of a bad version of old time series like Flash Gordon, Captain Midnight, etc.

I saw it when I read your post on this thread: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=1561 So which is it: Mark or Craig? Or do you just prefer SD?
