Mercedes AMG GT 53

Happy Holidays all. I'm thinking about getting the GT 53 4 door, but would love to know anyone's thoughts on this car...especially those that currently own or have owned. Thank you

It’s a gorgeous vehicle and fast; only driven one around the block that belonged to a friend but I was impressed!

Maintenance and depreciation not withstanding it’s a super cool ride in my book.

I had the Amg 63s 4 door for one week but I’m not a fan of it. I prefer Panamera instead. Porsche Panamera is much better in handling and overall comfort of ride.

Its a great looking car. But if I were you, I would strongly consider moving up a notch and getting the AMG GT63 instead. The 53 is regarded as the "poser" in AMG circle. Not trying to insult you, but just sharing what the MBWorld forums which is Mercedes AMG forums opinions of all 53sereis cars.

I had it for a little while. The inline 6 with the mild hybrid is very good and responsive and makes great noises with the AMG exhaust. The looks are stunning and I did like the overall package for a daily driver. My car addiction had me move on to other cars but I did enjoy it very much.

Not going to lie. I looked at the Panamera, but then thought if I were to go Porsche it has to be a 911. Wrong thinking I'm sure.

That's good thinking!

Sorry, I don't know anything about the MB...

So I currently have the AMG GLE 53 Coupe SUV. I bought this at the beginning of 2022 and at the time the AMG GLE 63 Coupe was not available. I needed a new daily driver so I went with the AMG 53 and I am now getting ready to trade it in. I want the power and performance and though the 53 is a decent car it isn't what I truly want. I am actually going to get the Audi RS Q8 which is as powerful performance wise as the AMG 63.

I think you will be wanting more if you get the 53.

Agree with above sentiments 100%. If going 53, it’s not going to scratch the itch for 90% of people. It’s an AMG Jr. It’s not an insult, it’s just the reality of the product. The 63 is what you should go for if you truly want an AMG vehicle. Otherwise it’s usually better to just stick with the base models. For example, if somebody was in the market for a GLE, and was eyeing a GLE53 SUV…..I’d highly suggest the GLE580 V8 over that.

63 or nothing in my mind when it comes to AMG.

I was eyeing the CLS53 and read a lot about the same concern, not being a full AMG which turned me off of it.

The 53 series cars came waaaay after the AMG solidified itself as the premium and race version of Mercedes. The “real” AMG were the big honking V8’s and then Mercedes wanted to cash in on the pedigree that AMG created by introducing a hopped up V6 in the 53. They add big AMG wheels and high performance tires with a sporty exhaust. This series sorry to say is not AMG. It’s a sporty version of Mercedes with AMG attributes.

Would agree EX the G63, much better off in the G550 for a car that is as aerodynamic as an ice cream truck.

I was sitting behind one at Freddys drive thru for a while the other night. It was the 63s with the little spoiler. It was so cool. I was searching for used ones the minute I got home. More expensive than I realized! But as everyone else has said, gotta get the v8.
I had the convertible for a while. Lot of fun. But can’t imagine it with a v6.

Interesting review. One week is pretty bad! Making me feel better over here.
Always loved a nice panamera.

Had one for 8 months earlier in the year and hated it. Got rid of it and go into a BMW M8 Gran Coupe.

The Panamera is an excellent sports sedan. It is not a 911, though, and if I were to have my first Porsche, it'd have to be a 911. Think critically about how, where & when you'll drive the car. If, for instance, you're doing a 50mi round trip 70/30 highway/street commute, then an MBZ or Lexus would likely be better. Or consider if you really need a 4-door sedan at all? There are sportier 2+2s in the MBZ line up. Or, look at CPO AMG S-classes that depreciate like rocks. Just get the warranty. https://www.autotempest.com/results?...maxmiles=50000

Have to agree about Panamera. For me it’s the best all around car
