Yes the tax credit is very attractive for those of us here in the states especially when leasing it as the income restrictions don’t apply to leases (I would wager many of us on this forum make too much money to claim the credit at tax time on a retail purchase). Also too the hybrid has serious pep with torque ratings similar to the 392.

That said, if the money difference isn’t prohibitive, the 392 is absolutely, positively, and without question the coolest wrangler the factory has ever delivered and an absolute riot to drive.

Jeep Wrangler OIIIIIIIO Appreciation Thread

30+ year Jeep enthusiast. If you’ve seen my watch/wrist photos, you may have guessed.
Have owned a wrangler since the early 90’s, and my first experience in the mid 80’s (high school) was a CJ7 with a steering wheel, 3 pedals and two seats…nothing else. Loved that CJ.
Have owned every generation of the wrangler, with the latest being a ‘24 392.
I’ve been asked many times, if I could only keep one of my cars in my collection, which one? …..answer is always the same….my Jeep Wrangler.

How are they for reliability?
I tend to remember that Jeep's old straight sixes were top notch (aren't they all) but there were several years in Wrangler history where their reputation for reliability was abysmal. For example, my neighbor has a 2011 four door that he hates.
I'm asking because I haven't owned a Jeep yet but my dog doesn't fit in my (regular cab) Tacoma so a used Jeep may come into consideration for the back seat, dog bed space. I wonder which years would be best to consider and which best to avoid.

Stay away from anything with the 3.8l V6. Also the 5 speed automatic in the pre-2018 Wranglers make the Jeep a dog. Tranny is solid, but with only 5 speeds the get up and go is lacking.

I had a TJ when we lived in New Mexico. Mountains, desert, and 300+ days of sun were great for a Jeep. The 4.0L was excellent. However, the insanely heavy clutch got annoying.

Some things about Jeeps.

The older ones were short wheelbase and had a tendency to tip over on higher speed swerving so they started making them longer in around 2004ish. Mine is a 2005 Unlimited called a LJ which is a 2 door longer wheel base. At the time they also made the same Jeep with a shorter wheel base (TJ).

I doubt the newer 4 door models are any more likely to tip over than any 4x4 or SUV.

Mine has a 4.0 engine and is pretty fast. It has an automatic with push button over drive. Actually you have to push the button to take it out of overdrive, which I do whenever I start it. Everything in the Jeep was flawless for 100,000 miles then I started to have computer problems with it going into limp mode (dropping in second gear and staying there) until you clear the computer.

I tried a lot of things but apparently 2004-2006 had this issues and Jeep stopped dealing with it. There is a company called Wrangler Fix which made new computers that cured the problems.

Now it's back to running without any issues.

Two Wrangler in the driveway right now --- I also have an '05 LJ, black and an '06 TJ, green. Always enjoy driving them and, for the most part, both have been reliable. Early on, I had to "replace the computer" in the '05. I've been fixing/replacing some things recently because of age, but overall they've continued to run pretty well through the years.

Can someone tell me their experience with new 4H auto system in new Wranglers? Do you feel any difference between standard 4H and 4H auto on snow roads?

When I was on vacation in Miami this summer I rented hybrid Wrangler but I didn’t like how the battery and engine was working. What are your experiences?

Picked up my first jeep two weeks ago. Looking forward to the summer and driving around topless, although I should probably clarify what that means to my wife.

My wife loves her 4XE Rubicon, but this new recall that just came out is a real bummer. Not supposed to charge it or park it indoors until they verify if the battery pack has a fault in it, but the software to find the fault isn’t developed yet. So in December my wife is supposed to park her car outside on the driveway instead of in the warm garage; she’s not happy lol.

So the 4H auto setting will just automatically engage the 4H for you. It’s best used on partially snowy roads or roads that are starting to get icy but aren’t that bad yet. If the road is already snow covered or iced over just use the 4H setting (you can access this by pushing the transfer case lever toward the passenger side when in 4H).

The benefit of the auto setting is it will keep you from binding / damaging the drivetrain when taking corners if there’s more traction on the pavement than anticipated.

Fun fact for those interested:
If my research is correct, the Rubicon is the only Wrangler model to use the stronger Dana 44 axles front and rear, which is great except that the Rubicon has become an expensive luxury vehicle, capable as it still is.
However ALL Jeep Gladiator trucks, even the most base trim levels, sport this same, robust axle.
So if building a robust Jeep is the goal, but the fancy stuff doesn't figure into your plan, maybe the Gladiator is a good starting point.

This is true; only thing is because of the truck bed on the Gladiator the departure angle for off-roading gets compromised a bit, but yes they are great and right now the rebates on remaining ‘23’s are crazy.

2 1/2 years into the lease. I likely won’t do another Jeep PHEV anytime soon. It has had too many recalls, and it really just creates a sense of doubt and uneasiness when taking it far from the house and a lack of confidence in the vehicle.

I love the look of it - I would probably just go full ICE if I want to stick with the Jeep.

If I bought one has to be used because I have to get the 4l inline 6 engine. It's powerful and so damn durable.

my last Wrangler i had for 5 years and my present wrangler i have had for almost 5 years i do a fair amount of off road activities and as of yet never a problem never a breakdown I trust the beast completely. prior to the wrangler i have owned many a grand Cherokee over the years and jeeps never get high marks on reliability but I guess i have been lucky never any mechanical issues.
