It was not the BLRO which completed my GMT collection

Now, finally it is complete. Worked with a TS on this forum to get this delivered yesterday and it came in as described by the seller. Seems like full sets are getting harder to find. Moreover, someone in my BLRO thread mentioned that I needed a vintage and thought why not re-add 16710 to my collection.

I replaced the 16710 bracelet with my SubC glidelock bracelet and it is the most comfortable watch to wear.

Great collection! Quick question - do you like the Batman or Pepsi more?

Or the CHNR Rootbeer?

I’m after one of these three GMTs and am starting to lean CHNR, then BLNR, then BLRO (coloring still throws me off with the sometimes purplish blue and publish red)

It’s not complete without the 216570 polar dial and black dial

Congrats! That’s a collection that’s right up my alley! And the glidelock on the 16710 does just fine. I’ve tried it myself.

Batman for versatility as the blue somewhat flows well into the black color - indoors or in low light. Pepsi on jubilee is bold and colorful. I feel that I carry LN, BLNR and Coke better than BLRO.

All the GMTs are great watches and get worn in rotation. I have not been a fan of SubC as it does not wear comfortably on my wrist. Although, I have SubC blue dial (bluesy) and SubC date LN.

Thought about those and 42mm just won’t do it for me. I have not even tried one on yet. That is why I never bought the sky-dweller.

I’ll ask my AD if I can try one on when he gets one in. If the lug-to-lug is about 49mm, I know I can pull it off.

If you get the opportunity to buy the CHNR, do it. I was wearing it the other day around the house and could not believe how the bezel color changes with different light conditions. The rose gold is subtle and under florescent light, the rose gold color on the bracelet looked like a PCL bracelet.

A great watch to own and wear.

Thanks. The opportunity to purchase the CHNR may be in front of me via an AD I know at MSRP. It was proposed as an alternate to the BLNR that I was originally looking for. I like both watches.

I have not been following CHNR, but it appears also to be a difficult allocation piece for ADs? Maybe not as high demand as BLNR, but still a difficult piece to obtain. Is this still the case?

I’m debating on whether paying MSRP now or asking for a slight discount if paying cash? Just not sure whether that is too much to ask given the allocation, demand, and current industry position?

Just wondering why you decided to have such a focused collection.
Others would go for more variety, like dress watch, or a different complication.

In the US, it was not that difficult to acquire. However, with Rolex manufacturing paused, most sought after models may get harder to acquire. I know my AD has hardly any inventory left, even DJs. I don't want to speculate on what will happen due to the current health/economic crisis.

It never hurts to ask for a discount and if the AD is able to do it, they usually will.

I wish I could say I planned it.However, it just happened and perhaps has something to do with my domestic and international travel, and lack of interest in SubC. It did start with Explorer II polar and then 6 digit LN and will end with 16710 coke.

I do have the DJ/SubC/Daytona/Milgauss/Panerai/Omega/Glashutte Original/Tudor/others. I enjoy collecting and wearing my watches and at some point I will consolidate as many on this forum has done.

The CHNR is stunning. Pictures don’t it justice. The BLNR and BLRO are wonderful watches as well, but you really must try it on to appreciate it. If you’ve got the itch it won’t go away.
