My brother is big into the Apple stock and was running my ear off with all this stuff. I couldn't believe what he was telling me. I thought it was a joke. Guess he wasn't joking. Ridiculous.

I just don’t understand how a company can basically create a tax like this on its customers, in reality 1000$ can change the life of any average person and it’s sickening that as more time passes people will eat all of this up without putting a second of thought into it. I guess the same applies to paying 22k for a watch that’s worth 9...

The problem with fans is that they become blind to what's happening outside the bubble. I was a Mac and Google fan for the last 10-12 years. Prior to that I was PC and Microsoft all the way. Having not looked much at either until a new job forced me to, I was like, OMG what has been going on here. The Surface Pro is freaking brilliant in form and function. Build quality is supurb and Microsoft 365.... Like wooooo. Where did this come from?

I would trust that if I were buying a $6k monitor that a stand would come with it. But alas, because Apple...you have to pay for charging cables and earphones, so not surprised really.

Classic misdirection.

Yeah the stand is expensive, but but but wait the screen is really nifty. Hey look at the screen. Wow what a screen. Stop, don't look at the stand, look at the screen its so great.....

I guess if enough people ridicule the cost of the stupid stand perhaps Apple willl drop the price. One of the greatest ways to attack companies that pretend they are SO COOL is to ridicule them. They hate that.

So keep up the ridicule.

My iPhone X (256gb) is about 18 months old. It's completely shot. I can't hear anything from the ear speaker, it takes 20 times to in n' out the charger cable to make it accept a charge, I'm not about to buy my third OEM case for it as they last about 6 months.

I'm not too impressed. Been an iPhone user since 2007.

Will need to buy a new phone, first time in 12 years I'll be looking at the competition.

Love how someone tries to show what an ultra HDR screen is capable of using a compressed youtube format and everyone's cheap displays looking at it. You just can't.

My X is the same age as yours. I am really unimpressed with it these days. It may be time to try a Note.

So for the staggering price of $6000 just for monitor (stand adds $1000), at least the screen is 8k resolution, right?

No the monitor is 6K. The MacPro works in 8K for file editing, etc.

But the monitor is full HDR and won’t overheat - which is interesting with the ventilation it has.

I have been with all Apple products for for 12-15 years and really like what they offer but honestly since Steve Jobs passed away a lot of the innovation went as well.

Are Apple products perfect, no they are not and honestly we as end users keep asking more and more from developers on not only phones, computers etc.... but also cars, TVs appliances, heck just today was looking at a new fridge and they sales rep showed us one that connects to your home WiFi .... WTH do I need my fridge on WiFi for

You’re comparing only one number: 8K

If you take the best 8K monitor out there today and do a SxS comparo, you’ll see many other attributes where the Apple monitor excels.

But I think most people are looking at the price tag for it and ignoring the MacPro fully tricked out tips the scales at $45,000. These are not for home use or amateurs - unless they want it for home videos

But it's not 8k with same other specs. Thus not revolutionary.

It’s not 8K.
And 8K wouldn’t be revolutionary, don’t you agree. It’s been done.

Now try and find me a monitor of any resolution that has all those revolutionary specs.

How does apple make the argument that this piece of metal is the same value as a brand new model iPhone?

$300 for the stand would be acceptable. $500 maybe with the stupid apple tax, but $1000 is a joke.

They charge it because they think they can get away with it. The fan boys will justify it because it's apple. The same easily influenced lemmings who find self worth simply because it costs $1000.

In the past 3-5 years my thoughts are that there's too much "cheap money" available. Not sure if it's because credit cards and financial institutions are basically handing out money to anybody or because too many people just quickly got wealthy. The new monitor stand at a $1000 is an example of that. Why would anybody working for his $ would ever buy that ? I just don't understand it.
And there are so many examples of that: This weekend I put an offer to buy a property in Lakeland, FL. A small city "on the way to Orlando" and I got over-bid by 15k from the listing price. A person made a $15k (25% of the listing price) offer over listing without even knowing if the property had other offers on it. Insane.
